Job Description

As the Tax Accountant, you’ll be instrumental in managing our tax strategy and ensuring compliance in an ever-evolving regulatory environment. This role offers a unique blend of autonomy and collaboration, allowing you to work remotely while maintaining regular touchpoints with key stakeholders. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your expertise to a wide range of tax matters, from routine filings to complex planning scenarios. Responsibilities

  • Spearhead tax return preparation and filing, ensuring meticulous compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Lead weekly virtual strategy sessions, providing critical tax insights to inform business decisions
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize the company’s financial position
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of tax law changes, translating complex regulations into actionable business practices
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure seamless integration of tax considerations in financial reporting
  • Manage and meet critical tax deadlines, maintaining a proactive approach to compliance
  • Identify and mitigate tax-related risks, safeguarding the company’s financial integrity
  • Track all invoices and payments for our suppliers.  
  • Manage and oversee our accounts payable emails 
  • Oversee any items needed for our accountant that aren't paid via ACH or Wire (Ex: Credit Card)
  • Oversee updates our financial statements which are managed inside quickbooks (ex: ledger updates, adding in sales or cogs, etc.) 


Requirements
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of proven experience in tax accounting, with a focus on business taxation
  • In-depth knowledge of US tax laws, particularly those relevant to New York-based financial services firms
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and financial management systems
  • Sharp analytical skills with a talent for problem-solving in complex financial scenarios
  • Excellent communication abilities, adept at conveying tax concepts to diverse audiences
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills, thriving in a remote work environment
  • Adaptability to handle a flexible workload, with the potential to grow into a full-time role
