About the Position

The General Food Service Worker (GFSW) Catering Lead assists in all aspects of the catering operation which includes: setting up events, delivering catered items, working events, and cleaning up events. When catering levels permit, this person also assists the Dining Center’s manager-on-duty in any position needed. This year-round position requires working early morning hours, evening hours, and weekends, as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of the catering department for college-related and outside events
  • Help to set up, prepare, and execute catering service  
  • Deliver items for Catering events with College Catering van, which includes lifting heavy items and pushing heavy carts
  • Assist the Catering Manager and Supervisor in all facets and needs of the event
  • Ensure that all details are attended to and events are properly executed  
  • Assist Dining Center staff and management when not scheduled for catering events
  • Assist with maintaining defined standards of sanitation, safety, and proper uniform guidelines
  • Assist with planning and executing Dining Services special events

Line of Report: The GFSW Catering Lead reports to the Catering Manager and Catering Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Two years of food experience

Professional Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of food items, cleaning practices, and simple food preparation
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a group under general supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of food service experience in a college setting 
  • Previous catering, serving, or bartending experience

Special Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 12 background check
  • Possession of a valid U.S. Drivers’ License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check
  • Must have, or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire, ServSafe certification
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP) certification
