Job description

Job Scope:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Information Communications Technician Apprentice to join our IT department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to start a career in IT and gain hands-on experience while working towards a qualification in Information Communications Technology. The apprentice will work closely with the Support Engineer and other IT staff, learning the ins and outs of IT support and gaining exposure to various aspects of technology within our organisation.

Responsibilities:

Hands-on IT Support
• Act as the first point of contact for internal users under the guidance of the Support Engineer.
• Assist in providing technical support to users via chat, phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
• Learn to resolve basic software and hardware issues for users.
• Support troubleshooting of network and connectivity issues.
• Assist in responding to infrastructure alerts and maintaining backup systems.

User Support and Service Provision
• Assist in onboarding and offboarding users, ensuring all IT setups are completed.
• Help in researching solutions to common IT problems and documenting step-by-step instructions.
• Contribute to preparing user-friendly articles to resolve common issues.
• Assist in managing access permissions on various systems such as Microsoft Office 365.
• Support the setup and configuration of desk workstations.

Operational Support
• Learn and follow established procedures and protocols.
• Assist in updating the ticketing system to reflect the status of support requests.
• Help maintain and update IT documentation and procedures.
• Escalate unresolved issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying potential improvements to services.

 

 

Reports to: Head of IT Services

Salary: £25,207

Contract type: 18 Month FTC

Hours: 35

Location: Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AG plus the option for some hybrid remote working
