Since 2016, T-Rex Solutions (T-Rex) has been supporting large scale hybrid-cloud migrations and systems modernization, to include the successful deployment of the first-ever online U.S. Census in 2020. T-Rex is actively expanding its IT Modernization services within the Federal Civilian market, specifically supporting the Department of Education’s strategic priorities.
T-Rex is seeking a Cloud FinOps Analyst to support the transformation and administration of resilient, secure Cloud environments as the Department of Education looks to transition from an on-premise infrastructure to the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud financial management practices and principles, with a proven track record of optimizing cloud costs and investments.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed financial analysis and forecasting for cloud spending across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Leverage management tools to identify and act upon optimization opportunities.
- Work closely with engineering and operations teams to recommend cost-optimization practices.
- Provide insights and recommendations on cloud usage and cost trends to senior management.
- Lead the FinOps practice within the organization, promoting a culture of cost awareness in cloud.
- Work with internal stakeholders, providing visibility into cloud spend and cost avoidance.
- Engage with cloud service providers to ensure cost-efficient optimization.
- Stay abreast of the latest cloud FinOps tools, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Database administration experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or other databases.
- Experience developing and editing SQL scripts and stored procedures that process and modify existing data.
- Experience creating database jobs to execute ad-hoc PL/SQL as well as procedures used to validate data, modify data, or gather table and index statistics at regular intervals.
- Demonstrated experience leading customer projects/initiatives to improve database performance.
- Strong understanding of the ITIL framework.
Desired:
- Active Department of Education clearance preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably cloud financial management or a cloud cost optimization role
- Strong understanding of cloud technologies and pricing models across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functional teams to achieve business objectives
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about cloud cost management

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
