Job description

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.

Plaid’s finance team builds the financial infrastructure to enable sustainable, scalable growth and to ensure attractive long-term economics. This position will be a key member of our dynamic that manages payroll operations and stock administration to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while complying with federal, state, and local laws. The ideal candidate will develop strong working relationships with cross-functional partners such as the People and Legal teams as we strive to deliver accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll and stock administration processes. We ensure employees’ financial transactions are seamless, fostering trust and satisfaction. We aim to scale and optimize systems to support the company’s growth.

In this role, you will work together with the team to manage semi-monthly payroll for a US and international workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll tax regulations. You will administer stock plans, including RSUs and stock options, and respond to employee inquiries. You will support payroll accounting tasks, such as journal entries and reconciliations, contributing to month-end close processes and collaborate on projects to evaluate and enhance payroll and equity processes, including system implementations and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Administer equity plans using Morgan Stanley Shareworks, including managing grants, tax compliance, and employee inquiries.

  • Support payroll accounting tasks in NetSuite, including journal entries, reconciliations, and audit requests.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll and stock administration efficiency.
  • Handle sensitive employee data with a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.

  • Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in multi-state and international payroll processing
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws across all 50 states and the ability to research when needed
  • Experience with Workday, ADP SmartCompliance, or similar payroll systems
  • Experience with stock administration, including RSUs and stock options, preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite and Morgan Stanley Shareworks, preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll accounting and month-end close processes
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse internal and external stakeholders
