Motorola Solutions is a world leader in the field of professional mobile communications systems with an impressive heritage of technological innovations and a global base of installed systems. The group's main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.
Upgrade Operations is part of our Global Services operation, and is responsible for performing lifecycle upgrades on live mission critical public safety communications systems.

The Motorola Solutions team comprises Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations as we work to deploy mission critical communication systems.
Many of these systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard, often with interfaces to other critical customers' sub-systems. With the growth of data services some of our customers’ mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with connectivity to an LTE infrastructure, leveraging compelling applications and live mobile video, supplementing our traditional core voice and narrow-band data networks.
Role Responsibilities for the Full Time Position:
Lead customer presentations
System staging
Complete system documentation
Live system upgrades
Ensuring the integrity of the architecture/design
Individuals will be shadowing those responsible for carrying out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle. He/she will learn about upgrading/deploying various devices which include network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines and Motorola proprietary devices. Along with above duties, individuals will learn to be a customer facing technical resource through the upgrade effort. He/She will travel to multiple customer locations to learn about these duties.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Interest in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable
An understanding of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) highly desirable
Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar, highly desirable
Previous knowledge and experience working with some or all of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon, highly desirable
Interest in directly working with end-user customers is essential
Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences is essential
Basic Requirements
Required Skills:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Networking
Must be open to traveling for several weeks during the Internship program.
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a background clearance as required by our government customers.
