Job Performance Profile
The UI/UX Designer Senior will be involved in designing product user interfaces using human centered design techniques for a large modernization effort that has significant industry focus. The candidate will be an integral component of a team of passionate and enthusiastic IT professionals. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for designing end user products for enterprise-wide use. These products include modern enterprise applications accessible and responsive via any device (web/mobile). The candidate will be responsible for delivering quality products using industry best practices. The candidate is expected to have extensive experience in applying Human-centered design principles to create user interaction design and user interface elements; measure the overall experience, facilitate, and enable user outcomes in an intuitive manner. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an Agile environment with a high-touch, Government customer. Must be able to work with other UI/UX designers to ensure consistency and scalability across a large-scale project.
Job Duties:
- Perform user research, conduct user and stakeholders’ interviews, surveys, and compiling data gained from these activities.
- Adhere to the programs existing design system while proposing new components.
- Use design thinking, Agile concepts and practices, and product management principles to develop customer focused software products.
- Perform visual design/interaction design creating and implementing user interfaces based on user data gathering.
- Comprehensive understanding of mobile friendly design, responsive layout, and 508 compliance.
- Produce design artifacts such as journey maps, user journeys, personas, etc.
- Develop wireframes and prototypes in a clean, well structured, and easily navigable format using Figma, or other relevant tools and coach less experienced designers in the same. Must have knowledge of auto-layout in Figma
- Plan and lead workshops to elicit user needs and feedback on product direction
- Be obsessed with good user-centered design practices and have an eye for detail
- Be creative, innovative and artistic and passionate about following the latest and emerging UI/UX trends
- Needs to work closely with the development teams and iterate the best solution.
- Strong people skills and demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments.
- Work independently and efficiently in high-paced environment.
Skills Needed:
- 7+ years of experience in designing user interfaces for enterprise-wide use
- Business Process Mapping
- Familiar with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS design capabilities
- Fluent in responsive design, mobile/tablet UI/UX
- Demonstrated experience as key interaction/visual designer of a UI/UX team throughout the system development cycle of successfully launched web, mobile, and/or software applications.
- Demonstrated experience performing user research and user testing, to include conducting user interviews, and synthesize the data gained from these activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of web standards and accessible design (508 compliance)
- Experience in designing artifacts such as journey maps, user journeys, personas, etc.
- Experience developing wireframes and prototypes in a clean, well structured, and easily navigable format using Figma, or other relevant tools and coach less experienced designers in the same
- Familiar with the United States Web Design System (USWDS)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 7+ years of experience. Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Human Computer Interaction, Digital Media Design, Fine Arts or related field is desired. Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance in advance of commencing work.
The likely salary range for this position is $121,680 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
