About the role:
We are looking for a dedicated Product Owner to join our Actuarial Systems team, focusing on the design and architecture of FIS Insurance Risk Suite.
As industry leaders in insurance modeling, we empower insurers and reinsurers globally with the essential tools and services to effectively manage their risks. We are looking for a Product Owner with systems experience and a keen interest in software design. Alternatively, candidates with substantial experience in business analysis or product ownership are also encouraged to apply.
About the team:
In the Actuarial Systems team, you will work with world-leading developers, business analysts and product owners to design new features and functionalities for the suite of Prophet products, which will help keep our suite at the forefront of technological excellence, whilst building an understanding of technology, insurance and climate risks and regulatory developments affecting various industries worldwide.
As a Product Owner, you will engage with senior management and stakeholders to define specific deliverables, manage the product backlog, and collaborate with internal development teams to deliver the required functionality. You should have a keen interest in emerging technologies and be aware of regulatory changes related to both insurance and climate risk, understanding their impact on global industries.
It is expected that you may also be involved in other areas of the business - the extent of involvement will depend on the communication skills, proficiency with the product, business knowledge and personal desire of the candidate to participate in these client-facing activities.
What you will be doing:
Enhance System Applications: Specify enhancements to system applications in response to industry developments and product management direction to better meet customer and developer needs, while making sure the requirements meet business and technical approval.
Assess System Impact: Ensure all parties fully understand the requirements and contribute to the design and architecture of the Prophet applications, working alongside internal development teams.
Support Development Teams: Act as a Product Owner and technical expert within a Scaled Agile framework, providing feedback on developed functionality to ensure it meets expectations. Fully understand the project backlog to prioritize work and identify potential issues, seeking solutions where appropriate.
Facilitate Training and Communication: Organize training, communications and workshops to ensure that all internal teams understand new developments. Work with them to understand impact to working practices and look at solutions to mitigate impact internally and externally.
Problem Solving: Address and provide solutions to technical challenges, aiming to become a subject matter expert.
Technical Guidance: Guide the team on technical issues. If not proficient in a specific area, investigate alternative ways to fill the technical gap.
Client Support: Assist helpdesk teams with escalated client queries, ensuring the team provides quality, accurate, and professional responses.
What you bring:
4+ years’ experience in software development as a business analysis or a product owner
Project / workflow tracking tools, e.g. Azure DevOps
Good communication and team-working skills
Experience in sharing knowledge, experience, and project progress with the team.
Ability to think innovatively to discover potential solutions.
Experience in investigating industry advancements.
Proficiency in articulating and presenting ideas to managers and senior leadership.
Experience working with tight deadlines, escalating risks and issues, and discussing potential solutions with team leads or managers
Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and needs.
Added bonus if you have:
Project Management experience, including Scaled Agile methodologies
Experience of systems integration
Database experience, e.g. Snowflake
Application design and development tools, e.g. Visual Studio, Miro
