The Opportunity:
HKA’s Forensic Technical Services team seeks a talented Geotechnical Engineer who is ready to expand their career into Forensics and Litigation Consulting. In this role, you'll support senior team members in analyzing and evaluating Geotechnical issues, developing expert opinions on deficiencies or failures, and identifying responsible parties. You'll also contribute to comprehensive forensic engineering reports and learn the crucial elements of success in client engagement and project strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for forensic investigations to analyze and determine the cause, origin, and extent of failures, defects, and errors and omissions leading to cost overruns.
- Assist in advising legal teams and clients on Geotechnical related issues.
- Support site inspections and fieldwork to gather data and evidence for forensic analysis.
- Help research technical publications and literature to support evaluations and apply engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards.
- Assist in preparing detailed forensic engineering reports outlining cause and origin of damage for clients.
- Help manage multiple projects and ensure project execution within required time frames.
- Communicate with administrative staff and clients to provide timelines and project updates consistently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant Engineering field
- 8+ years in Geotechnical engineering, with a focus on transportation and public works projects
- Experience with Design/Build project delivery
- Professional Consulting and/or Professional Services experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Proficiency in Geotechnical analytical tools for slope stability, shoring, seepage, and foundations
- Skilled in AutoCAD, including Civil3D or similar tools, and fluent in Office 365 suite
Compensation - HKA offers a salary range of USD 160,000 to USD 240,000, based on your amount of experience, qualifications, and overall suitability for the role.
