Job description

Sprezzatura seeks a Jr Information Security Analyst to join our growing team. The candidate will work on a team to analyze and document systems within the VA with the goal of reducing Social Security Number usage. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for technology who is eager to grow and develop their skills in a dynamic environment.

 

 Roles/Responsibilities:

·        Determine the impact of new technologies, software versions, or federal policy changes to application builds, web, networking, and maintenance

  • Determine the impact of new technologies, software versions, or federal policy changes to based tools, virtual, and Cloud environments
  • Assist with maintaining and reviewing security documentation, including risk assessments, incident logs, and compliance reports
  • Stay up to date on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices in the cybersecurity field

 Skills & Qualifications:

·        Familiarity with security frameworks and standards including National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP 800-53 Rev.4 & 5 (Security Privacy Controls Overlays), the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), VA 6500 Information Security Program, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Publication 199, Standards for Security Categorization of Federal Information and Information Systems, and VA Directive 6508

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Hands-on experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including firewalls, encryption, authentication, and intrusion detection
  •  Solid ability to identify and knowledge of protecting personally identifiable information (PII) as required by the Privacy Act of 1974
  • Knowledgeable on VA requirements and guidance regarding Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
  • Knowledge of various security tools and software
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate security risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to identify vulnerabilities and potential security threats, supporting the team in taking appropriate corrective actions

·        Communication skills allowing for both cooperative communication and conflict resolution with government staff and coworkers from a wide array of backgrounds and positions

·        Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products (Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and JIRA

 

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific/technical discipline
  • 5 years of experience
  • VA experience a plus (especially within OIT)
  • Certifications (CompTIA Security+, CISSP)
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Understanding of IT project lifecycle
  • Citizenship/Security: Citizen/Green Card. Must be able to hold a federal security clearance.
  • Veteran Preference: Yes
