For the expansion of our EMEA team, argenx is looking for a Medical Advisor for Italy

PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION

As a Country Medical Advisor at argenx, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare by providing medical and scientific expertise for our pipeline of innovative therapeutics. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of science, medicine, and business, and contribute to the development and launch of cutting-edge treatments that have the potential to transform the lives of patients.

  • The Medical Advisor is an internal and external expert in relevant disease areas and argenx products, including clinical data, real-world use, both current and future therapeutic indications and competitive environment.

  • Understands the management of relevant diseases, mapping the patient journey, identifying unmet medical needs, data gaps and areas of clinical collaboration. 

  • Builds valued and trusted relationships with the healthcare community through external engagement, projects and other collaboration opportunities.

  • Actively contributes to cross-functional brand planning and development of innovative Medical Affairs Plans and MSL-led activities using their extensive knowledge of disease area, data and competitor environment.

  • Works closely with the EMEA Regional and Medical Affairs team and cross-functionally with relevant EMEA colleagues, and may also support activities and projects across the EMEA region

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SCIENTIFIC LEADERSHIP

  • Maintains the highest scientific and medical expertise of all relevant diseases and products with focus on dysimmune neuropathies.

  • Is acknowledged internally and externally as a subject matter expert. 

  • Delivers non-product, non-promotional communications and education regarding argenx areas of therapeutic interest.

  • Responds reactively to unsolicited individual enquiries from HCPs or other relevant stakeholders, on both approved and non-approved products.

  • Engages in legitimate exchange of medical and scientific information during the development of a medicine.

  • Delivers high quality scientific/medical education in a variety of settings, including related to diseases of interest, clinical studies, investigational products and any future licensed products.

INSIGHT GENERATION

  • Gathers clinical and scientific feedback from external stakeholders that can be disseminated throughout the organization for the purpose of improving argenx products and services.

  • Engages in legitimate information and opinion gathering from groups such as medical experts/thought leaders during the development of a medicine.

  • Coordinates the timely and appropriate response to internal and external Medical Information enquires, utilizing argenx medical information resources and in-line with regulatory requirements.

  • Attends appropriate local, national and international meetings and congresses to gather intelligence, develop productive collaborations, engage in scientific exchange and ensure insights are shared within argenx.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Understands complex disease areas, treatments and clinical development plans

  • Has a strong track-record of developing and delivering strategic and compliant field medical plans.

  • Is digitally savvy, with practical experience of excel, power point and digital analysis tools

  • Seamlessly engaging with external stakeholders using both real-world and digital/virtual techniques.

  • Developing and launching digital projects to support the healthcare community.

  • Has a positive mindset and approach to the importance of meaningful quantitative and qualitative value and impact measures

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively together within cross-functional teams and networks

  • Demonstrated communication skills, within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual global environment

  • Is agile and demonstrates adaptability, comfort with ambiguity, trust-building, and resilience

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE
  • Scientific, healthcare or medical degree.

  • 3+ years of experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

  • Previous experience in immunology and/or neurology is an advantage

  • Previous launch experience is an advantage

  • Knowledge of local healthcare regulations and compliance standards.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Strategic thinking and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

  • Passion for medical innovation and a commitment to improving patient outcomes.

OTHER
  • Good knowledge of oral and written English, fluent in Italian

  • One in-office meeting per week in Milan

  • Willing to travel within the country
