About the role:

This role is responsible for leading our Core Platform team within Cloud Platform Services at HashiCorp. The Core Platform team helps deliver the PAAS backbone and partners to build the HashiCorp Cloud Platform (HCP) that powers HashiCorp’s software delivery.

What you’ll do (responsibilities):

In this role, you will lead the creation and delivery of modern, secure and reliable Core Platform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with EPD & Security teams to define, affirm & drive a Core Platform roadmap that is fully aligned with Product and Business objectives
  • Deliver and operationalize key Core Platform capabilities, including Cloud UI, PAAS service management capabilities and core CLIs.
  • Partner with leaders in Engineering, Product and Design to enforce best practices for measurable quality and value within the platform
  • Partner with Engineering and Developer Experience leaders to establish relationships with key cloud and software vendors, managing costs and generating the highest ROI possible on investments in tooling
  • Cultivate excellence in the reliability, scalability, security, and craft of the software your team builds
  • Develop modern operationalization via policies for monitoring and ongoing management (patching, upgrades, audit requests, etc)
  • Hire and grow a diverse engineering team in a fast-scaling organization
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Cloud Platform Services and broader EPD organizations
  • Present insights and recommendations to drive data-driven decision-making
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives led by our EPD management, recruitment, and people teams
What you’ll need (basic qualifications):
  • 8+ years People Management experience leading engineering teams, with an emphasis on developing key talent and cultivating positive, high-performing cultures. A people-focused leadership style, with a track record of motivating and inspiring individuals and teams.
  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering with experience with large-scale cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP), including CICD-driven software development, testing and release management.
  • 6+ years working with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Terraform (preferred), CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible.
  • Understanding and familiarity with HashiCorp’s products, specifically Terraform, Nomad, Vault and Consul.
  • Understanding and familiarity with the following technologies in use at HashiCorp and by the team: Go, gRPC, Protobuf, Aurora (Postgres), Redis (Elasticache), LaunchDarkly.
  • Strong functional knowledge of containers, container management, and container orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of modern cloud security fundamentals, including patch management and secure configurations, with preferred experience in regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices, including CICD (continuous integration and deployment/delivery) techniques and technologies
  • Strong cross functional collaboration and influencing skills, including the ability to influence without formal authority.
What's nice to have (preferred qualifications):
  • Agile/Lean background for projects and project delivery.
  • Strong understanding of automation, automation principles, and different aspects of pipelines and automation delivery.
  • Advanced strategic capability with cloud delivery models.
  • Deep understanding of advanced security segmentation and controls.

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.

The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:
$263,500$310,000 USD
The base pay range for this role in California (excluding SF Bay Area), New York (excluding NYC), Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, Washington D.C., or Maryland is:
$241,500$284,100 USD
The base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro), Illinois, Minnesota, or Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:
$219,600$258,300 USD
