InStyle News & Deals Writer (PT)
The InStyle commerce team at Dotdash Meredith is looking for a part-time writer to pitch, write, update, and edit news-centric shopping content focused on fashion, beauty, and celebrity topics. The ideal candidate is an experienced digital editor who is passionate about product recommendations and can create quality content in the InStyle voice on a timely basis. You should be able to work comfortably (and at times, independently) in a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for someone who is able to work 2 days per week every week during regular east coast business hours; specific days of week and length of contract are up for discussion. Ability to start by March 2025 is preferred.
Assignment Details:
16 hours a week
Start date: 3/3/25
End date: 3 months with potential to extend
Hourly Rate: $30
Location: Remote - US
Assignment Responsibilities:
80% writing stories
Contribute 2-4 short-form commerce articles per week as needed
20% editing
Assist senior editors with team editing workload as needed
* Plus, other tasks as determined by your manager; your day-to-day is subject to change based on weekly priorities
Skills/Experience:
2-4 years experience minimum writing and editing digital content at a major lifestyle publication; commerce content experience is highly preferred
Experienced freelancer interested in guaranteed weekly hours/pay that can work a minimum of 16 hours per week (on a set schedule, for the most part)
Experience pitching, writing, and editing beauty, style, and celebrity content; you have your finger on the pulse of what’s new and trending, plus what will resonate with readers from a commerce perspective
Able to write and edit on tight deadlines based on the news and sales cycle; quick turnaround is expected
Flexible when it comes to daily assignments and able to seamlessly pivot from task to task while still upholding brand style/voice and creating quality content
