Under the general direction of the CFO, the Manager of Financial Planning; Analysis & Pricing is responsible for ongoing review of financial transactions for the Firm. They will have primary responsibility for financial planning and budgeting, performing ad-hoc analysis associated with pricing and profitability of current and prospective clients; streamlining and automating standard and customized reports. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for:

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Setting firm, department, and client/matter budgets and measuring performance against them. Monitor and explain variances and recommend corrective actions.  
  • Working with firm Controller to set up proper general ledger/client matter codes to capture and allocate revenue and costs appropriately. 
  • Participating in and analyzing results of various industry surveys to assist the firm in setting its attorney billing rates, expense budgets, and maintaining staffing ratios with a consistent focus on improving firm profitability.    
  • Providing analytical support and formulate recommendations for firm management for pricing discussions including alternative fee arrangements with current and prospective clients.  
  • Evaluating, recommending, and implementing technology solutions to assist in budgeting, reporting, and data analysis for the firm.   
  • Assuming a leadership role in other special projects as assigned. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting, along with direct experience managing FP&A function of a law firm or another professional services organization required.
  • Time and billing software/system experience (i.e. Elite; Aderant; or another ERP). 
  • Past experience in selecting and implementing budgeting, reporting, and data analysis solutions. 
  • Demonstrated familiarity in writing SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data. 
  • Proven analytical skills to look at the data and translate it to the “story”. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills – Word, Excel (Excel is essential!), PowerPoint, Outlook and various document management tools.
  • Ability to build rapport with attorneys and professional staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently but within a team environment.

Position Details

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, exempt level position. Final rate of pay will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, with a targeted hiring range of $135,000.00 – $155,000.00 annually (the upper range reserved for highly qualified applicants). This position is currently available in our CT office location only.
