About the Role
Redhorse is seeking a highly experienced ServiceNow Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Developer to play a critical role in modernizing the Directorate of Information Management and Technology (IM&T) at a DoD agency. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing scaled-agile (SAFe) features within ServiceNow, and migrating data from Jira. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to significantly impact a major government modernization initiative, with quarterly travel to Arlington, VA and/or Mechanicsburg, PA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the upgrade from ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) Standard to SPM Professional.
  • Conduct demonstrations showcasing SPM Professional functionality, specifically scaled-agile features (Strategic Planning > Enterprise Agile Planning (EAP) and Scaled Agile Framework apps).
  • Implement ServiceNow's scaled-agile (SAFe) features, including discovery, design, configuration, and testing.
  • Lead discovery workshops to assess downstream impact and dependencies of scaled-agile configuration on ongoing ServiceNow development.
  • Conduct a current-state technical assessment of the ServiceNow platform to recommend solutions meeting business requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into epics, features, and user stories.
  • Create a solution backlog and lead backlog refinement and sprint planning.
  • Consult with product teams to define the approach for migrating data from Jira to ServiceNow.
  • Plan and execute the migration of project, board, and issue data from Jira to ServiceNow.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge transfer guides for IM&T personnel.
  • Develop training materials and conduct training demonstrations for ServiceNow users.
  • Serve as ServiceNow SME, informing stakeholders on ServiceNow license/platform upgrade features.
  • Provide weekly status reports on progress to IM&T.
  • Participate in meetings, lead assigned efforts, and coordinate as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Required Experience/Clearance
  • 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 8 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; or High School Diploma/equivalent and 14 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in developing and configuring ServiceNow, particularly the Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) Professional application.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of ServiceNow workflows, UI policies, permission management, and business rules.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of SPM features (Innovation, Demand, Agile Development, Project and Portfolio Management, Enterprise Agile Planning (EAP), and Scaled Agile Framework apps).
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile development processes, particularly in large-scale enterprises.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAFe and Scrum methodologies and their integration within the ServiceNow environment.
  • Migration experience from Jira to ServiceNow.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and stakeholders.
  • Active Secret security Clearance.

  • Desired Experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and configuring ServiceNow (particularly SPM applications).
  • 3+ years of experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile development processes in large-scale enterprises.
  • ServiceNow Certifications (CAD, CIS, or other relevant certifications).
  • SAFe Certification (or equivalent Agile framework certification).
  • Experience with enterprise-level integrations; familiarity with APIs (REST/SOAP) and integration tools/plugins for ServiceNow.
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) or IT Operations Management (ITOM).
