This is a remote position.
40 hours per week (work days is to be identified but staff can work within the client's business hours from 9AM - 6PM PST with 1hr unpaid break)
Purpose of the Position:
We are looking for a Revit superuser to support the Senior Building Designer by generating construction blueprints, technical detailing etc in Revit. You will address and review design restrictions and considerations to bringing designs to completion. The position will be 3D drafting focused and architectural design based to provide accurate floor plans and measures, concept design, construction detailing (Architectural detailing),
permit drawings, building wall assembly details, etc. Attention to detail is important. Desire to learn and improve drafting skills by themselves is of outmost importance. Majority of designs will be in standard North American residential wood framed construction. Familiarisation to these construction methods for accurate drafting will be important.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate remotely on site measurements being taken by third party for baseplan creation
- Coordinate plan creation by coordinating other professional or trade people such as surveyors, arborists, etc.
- Coordinate client’s design requirements to assist the building designer and generate floor plans, concept plans, etc
- Identify client’s governing criteria between Scope, Cost and Time, and manage designs accordingly
- Balance client’s desire with code requirements and project feasibility
- Perform 3D rendering, BIM modeling and 2D drafting for architectural and structural blueprints (Revit primary, AutoCad secondary)
- Perform structural and architectural technical detailing
- Review building blueprints for quality control
- Review/Manage municipal bylaw requirements and integration within design
- Become familiar with most current BC Building Code. Integrate knowledge within designs
- Perform various project related administrative tasks
- Coordinate client meetings when required
- Manage project schedule on assigned projects
- Assist main building designer in many form to help project flow and delivery
- Drive to and from client meeting, site visits, etc.
- Perform project tasks assigned by Lead engineer or Director
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding to read, create, and alter building plans
- Create and alter building plans using computer based software Revit, AutoCad
- Understanding of wood framing will be seen as an asset
- Organize a number of tasks simultaneously; ability to multitask with ease using systems in place
- Manages time and productivity for the benefit of the client
- Superior customer service and communication to clients or colleagues
- Effective English grammar and vocabulary
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and sharepoint for project flow and file storage
Education and Experience:
- Diploma and/or Degree in CAD Drafting, equivalent experience will be considered (Mandatory)
- Min 5 years of experience working for a structural engineering firm or Professional Architectural firm in a drafting capacity (Mandatory)
- Experience in reading, interpreting, creating, and altering existing or new building design plans will be seen as an asset (Mandatory)
- Experience in computer design and building plan software (Revit, AutoCad 2D, 3D modeling, BIM) (Mandatory). Superuser status will be required.
Demonstration of Revit skills will be expected. Knowing the software inside out is required.
Work Conditions:
- Coordination via MS Teams daily for video call and screen share
- Access to high speed internet mandatory
- Main work computer to be PC (not Apple. Apple causes conflicts with synchronization in the cloud.)
- The employee must have high speed internet and a PC computer able to run Revit
- The candidate must have at a minimum a diploma in CAD drafting or equivalent
