We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a key member of our accounting and finance team, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting franchise operations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles (GAAP), experience working in a franchise, multi-unit, or private equity-backed business, and the ability to manage complex financial transactions across multiple locations. This role requires a mix of technical accounting expertise, analytical thinking, and strategic problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
o Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
o Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to operating expenses and intercompany transactions
o Ensure financial statements follow GAAP and company policies
o Perform variance analysis on financial results, investigating discrepancies and providing insights to management
Reconciliations and General Ledger Management
o Prepare and review bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and key balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
o Maintain accurate records of prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and deferred revenue, ensuring proper amortization schedules
o Ensure reconciliations are completed timely and discrepancies are investigated and resolved
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
o Support the finance team in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts
o Provide financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
o Assist in cash flow forecasting to ensure the business maintains adequate liquidity
Audit & Compliance Support
o Prepare audit schedules and respond to inquiries from external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders
o Ensure compliance with franchise reporting requirements, GAAP, and tax regulations
Process Improvement & System Optimization
o Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in financial reporting and data management
o Work with IT and finance teams to ensure data integrity and automation of reporting
Cross-Functional Collaboration
o Work closely with franchise operations, finance leadership, and development teams to provide financial insights and reporting
o Work closely with the marketing team to track advertising fund contributions and expenditures, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately per franchise agreements
o Assist in reconciling marketing fund balances and ensuring compliance with fund usage policies
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
· 3-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a franchising, multi-unit, or private equity-backed business
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
· Experience with royalty accounting, franchise fees, and multi-entity consolidations
· Proficiency in ERP/Accounting systems (Netsuite, or similar)
· Advanced Excel Skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc)
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
