What you will do!
The primary purpose of the Remote Services Administrator is supporting Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and future remote service technologies such as cloud base virtual desktops and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) environments. The primary focus is to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable remote access to organizational resources for users, while maintaining and optimizing the performance, security, and functionality of the underlying infrastructure. Their responsibilities revolve around providing a seamless remote work experience, managing access to virtualized applications and desktops for ODHS|OHA staff and partners.

What we are looking for:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(a) Five (5) years of information systems experience in:
troubleshooting and supporting remote access services including Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and a foundational understanding of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA);
OR
(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field,
OR
completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND three (3) years of information systems experience in:
troubleshooting and supporting remote access services including Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and a foundational understanding of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA);
OR
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
AND
one (1) year of information systems experience in:
troubleshooting and supporting remote access services including Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and a foundational understanding of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).
Working Conditions
Position may require periodic travel throughout the state.
While performing the duties of this job, you will be in an open landscape environment and may be exposed to the sounds and activity of those working around you. These conditions may be in high traffic areas with moderate to loud noises and frequent interruptions. May require long hours with night and weekend work and occasional travel.
The working location of this position is in an office, cubicle and/or an agreed upon remote work environment with significant use of a computer and video conferencing.
Desired Attributes:
- Knowledge of theories and principles of Information Systems (IS) technology.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work within a team environment and with a diverse group of individuals.
- Proficiency in Citrix (e.g., Virtual Apps, ADC, Citrix Cloud).
- Experience with VDI platforms (e.g., Nutanix, VMware Horizon, Microsoft AVD).
- Knowledge of ZTNA technologies (e.g., Zscaler, Palo Alto Prisma Access).
- Strong grasp of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VPNs, load balancing).
- Experience with SD-WAN and network optimization for remote access.
- Proficiency with authentication technologies (e.g., MFA, SSO, Active Directory).
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-prem integration.
- Integration of Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions.
- Managing endpoints with Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) tools (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Citrix Endpoint Management).
- Regular patching and updating of endpoint and remote systems.
- Configuring logging and monitoring for compliance.
- Expertise in backup and restore procedures for critical systems.
- Configuring high availability (HA) for Citrix and VDI environments.
- Planning for failover and disaster recovery.
- Relevant certifications: Citrix Certified Associate (CCA-V), VMware Certified.
- Performance tuning of virtual desktops and remote environments
- Capacity planning to handle growth in remote access traffic
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Citrix Director, VMware vROps).
- Ability to lead and / or mentor other team members including contracted staff.
- Automating tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
- Leading or supporting large-scale deployments of Citrix, VDI, and ZTNA solutions
- Working cross-functionally with IT, network, and security teams
- Coordinating with vendors for system upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Creating detailed documentation of systems, policies, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Knowledge of technological changes and developments in Information Systems.
- Knowledge, skills, and experience in analyzing business procedures, processes and policies.
- Knowledge, skills, and experience in business requirements collection, analysis and attendant technical specifications development.
- Knowledge of structured design, analysis and programming of computer systems.
- Knowledge of System problem analysis and testing.
- Knowledge of coordinating small projects.
