Underwriter Artisan Contractor Program
About the role:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking an Underwriter to join the Environmental team, focusing on the Artisan Contractor Program. This role be under general supervision, works on a defined functional team to provide underwriting expertise to achieve profitable growth by appropriate risk evaluation, selection, customer relationships and book management.
Location: Remote
Salary Range: $80,000.00-$100,000.00
Essential Functions:
• Underwrite casualty insurance risks within granted level of authorities by identifying and analyzing risk exposures, loss frequency and severity against desired coverage. Use appropriate pricing procedures and rules and modifying coverages to meet desired customer needs. Provides technical assistance to customers regarding policy endorsement provisions and underwriting acceptability for designated insurance coverages.
• Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal accounts to maintain profitable growth and market competitiveness. Identify changes in account/ market risk exposures and loss trends to maximize profitability.
• Develop collaborative relationships with external and internal customers. Work proactively with customer to define profitable risk accounts to underwrite. Provide effective and timely communication on risk selection and decisions and provide ongoing service to endorsement changes. Participate in review and evaluation of customer accounts, making recommendations on book management issues.
• Maintain strong industry knowledge of underwriting expertise and changes in market/ account positions. Develop and maintain full knowledge of all forms, coverages, ratings, and manuals for the specific line being underwritten.
Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):
• High School diploma and 1-3 years related P&C underwriting experience with underwriting authority required. Bachelor’s degree and experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to develop and strengthen customer relationships required.
• Ability to analyze risk and adhere to underwriting standards for risk selection and profitability.
• Ability to travel as required to meet customer needs.
• Good organizational and time management skills required.
• CPCU or similar insurance designations and training preferred
• Must be able to work in a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a general business understanding
• Fill in for other team members to ensure business continuity during peak periods and/or when team members are unavailable
• Must be able to find alterative solutions to clients’ needs and requirements
• Develop new producers for the ACPP business
• Self-motivated and demonstrate an attention to detail
