The Role:

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer Co-op to join our Research and Development International team as a co-op for 12 months starting in Summer 2025! The team is comprised of many highly talented enthusiastic individuals who ensure the services and offerings from Kobo are available to both internal and external customers.

Reporting to the Global Delivery Manager, the Software Quality Assurance Engineer Co-op will work with the Global Delivery Team made up of Developers and Testers and take an active part in delivering high quality software to Rakuten Kobo’s users.  

The Person:

• A passion for software development and delivery
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Have a desire to work in a team but also be self-organising enough to be able to work on a task independently

The Skillset:

Required:

• Some previous experience in and Object-Oriented Software Language such as C# or Java
• An understanding of T-SQL Databases
• Experience with web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
• Knowledge of using source control systems such as Git or TFS
• Knowledge of software testing
• Techniques such as Static (Manual or Automatic, using Veracode or SonarQube) and Dynamic (Unit, Integration, etc).
• Tools such as Visual Studio, NUnit, MSTest, Postman etc.

Nice to haves:

• An understanding of server-side web technologies such as Web API and MVC
• Experience developing and executing test cases
• Experience with Selenium or Playwright is an asset
