The Opportunity

As a dedicated Bank Fraud Audit and Exam Management Advisor you will provide a broad range of strategic and tactical management of Audit Services, Independent Risk Management (IRM) Compliance and Risk partners, and regulatory agency relationships. Within defined guidelines, responsibilities include recurring interactions with regulators, Lines of Business personnel, risk management, and other partners. Objectives include effective examination outcomes and the coordination and management of information and documentation handoffs.

The primary focus of this position is the coordination and quality control of the examination process, including ensuring appropriate levels of examination preparedness and the quality and timeliness of information provided to reviewers.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and drive solutions for stronger controls, and in support of Risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives which may include oversight of procedures/process, accurate regulatory reporting and filing, document governance, Risk control self-assessments, procedure governance, control design, new product controls, CoSA Third Party Governance, or quality governance.

  • Perform ongoing supervision and oversight of business controls and shares knowledge with team members to evaluate the effectiveness of established business controls.

  • Responsible for Risk data analysis, report preparation and trend analysis, using business intelligence tools.

  • Anticipate business needs and proactively finds opportunities to improve and strengthen the control environment through actionable insights.

  • Assist with translating control deficiencies into action plans and provides recommendations to enhance governance practices in alignment with Risk and compliance frameworks.

  • Partner with team members to drive improvement efforts to correct or prevent unfavorable trends and assess the impacts.

  • Lead project team through concept, planning, execution, and implementation phases for effective and timely Risk remediation.

  • Advise senior management on the status of their control environment related to risk identification and control weaknesses. Identify critical areas to monitor and bring up issues and findings to appropriate partners.

  • Develop and maintain processes, procedures, and tools for handling exception alerts as they occur, including monitoring of resulting exception cases.

  • Provide control oversight to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Serve as a primary resource to team members.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, and controlled in accordance with policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 6 years' experience supporting risk-related, compliance related or business control design activities; OR 6 years' experience in a relevant quantitative field; OR Advanced degree or designation in a risk management or quantitative field, and 4 years' experience supporting risk-related, and/or compliance-related, or business control design activities; OR PhD in a risk management or quantitative field, and 2 years of experience supporting risk-related, and/or compliance-related, or business control design activities.

  • Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable guidance to area supported for example: OCC Heightened Standards, BSA/AML, REG E, UDAAP/UDAP, TILA/REG Z, SCRA, FCRA, MLA.

  • The ideal candidate has supported large-scale exams, audits, or other review activities conducted by Audit, Compliance, Operational Risk functions and/or Regulatory Agencies (OCC, CFPB).

  • Exceptional communicator capable of conveying complex concepts verbally and in writing to audiences of varying levels of expertise.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface with the most senior leaders to provide effective guidance, credible challenge, and regulatory expertise.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $103,450.00 - $186,210.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
