OVERVIEW:

The first 14 weeks will be spent learning retail basics and completing a store rotation in one of our Pittsburgh stores to gain insight into our athlete base, the products and services that differentiate us from the competition and define how actions taken at the CSC impact our field teammates. The remainder of the program, you will have the opportunity to select your path from one of the following focus areas:

  • Retail – Explore the key divisions that focus on sales, inventory, and profitability.  Receive in-depth exposure to the teams that research new opportunities, analyze results, and develop strategies to ensure we are positioned to achieve the goals related to our key performance indicators.

  • Operations – Work alongside the teams that evaluate and design our Supply Chain infrastructure, negotiate store leases, determine new store locations, and analyze our teammate data (retention, engagement, etc.).  These teams are an integral part of funding the future of our company.

  • Athlete l – As a retailer, the ATHLETE (customer) is the most important person to our success.  Complete in-depth analyses that look at how our Athletes respond to marketing, advertising, pricing, and shopping with us. With what you learn, you’ll contribute to company strategy, KPI goals and decisions regarding these aspects.

  • Athlete ll - As a retailer, the ATHLETE (customer) is the most important person to our success.  Discover who that athlete is and what they want by analyzing internal customer data, reviewing online search and navigation information, and looking into market demographics for our entire store footprint.

During the program, you will learn through both on-the-job training and facilitated classroom sessions presented by leading experts in the retail and sporting goods industries.  In addition to your assignment-specific training, you will also have the opportunity to take part in the Professional Development Series offered exclusively to our programs.  This series will include various opportunities to develop your professional skills and retail knowledge including functional overviews of various departments at DSG, intensive Excel training, the creation of an Individual Development Plan to help you identify and maximize your strengths, as well as many other developmental offerings.

Key program experiences:

  • Attend professional development classroom sessions and apply lessons learned in day-to-day interactions across the business with coaching from Mentors and Program Managers
  • Apply Excel learnings to analyze data from multiple sources to assess business results 
  • Utilize analytical tools (SAS, Unica, MS Excel, MS Access, Alteryx, Python) to perform basic data manipulation and analysis
  • Extract data from multiple data points in preparation of the analysis
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure the enterprise impacts are represented in all quantitative and qualitative data
  • Utilize quantitative and qualitative data analysis to craft recommendations to drive revenue or margin for DICK'S Sporting Goods
  • Build and execute test and learn scenarios to validate recommendations
  • Build cost models as required to better understand impact to DSG financials
  • Execute hindsight analysis on business initiatives and effectively summarize findings
  • Build presentations, executive summaries, etc. to deliver the story to leaders throughout the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation date in May 2025

  • Transcript submission and a GPA of 3.5 or higher are required

  • A bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Finance, Economics, or other related business major from an accredited college or university

  • Strong proficiency in Excel

  • The willingness to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA

Targeted Pay Range: $54,600.00 - $90,900.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
