The Director, Strategic Initiatives is a newly created role that will help drive execution across the company. This role is a senior level leader who oversees large, complex technology initiatives, often spanning multiple teams and departments with a focus on strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring alignment with high-level business objectives.The Director, Strategic Initiatives will report to our President and Chief Operating Officer to help manage the execution of critical cross-functional initiatives at the executive level, often requiring significant stakeholder management and decision-making authority. 

The Director, Strategic Initiatives will manage complex programs with significant impact on the business, regularly presenting to and collaborating with C-suite executives and the Board of Directors. There will be a great emphasis on near team execution and impact taking into account long-term strategic impact. 

We are looking for a passionate individual with experience in business analytics, project management and execution, communication, collaboration, and leadership.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision
    • Develop and execute comprehensive business strategies and operating objectives aligned with company goals, considering long-term implications and market trends. Drive program execution, including planning, inception, delivery and turnover
  • Cross-functional Leadership
    • Lead and coordinate diverse teams across different departments like engineering, design, marketing, and operations to achieve program goals. Establish forums to effectively communicate program status (milestones, health, decisions, issues, risks) to key stakeholders. Define and manage transition to business and engineering operations. Work with engineering, product, customer experience, and business-operations to assess and plan resources required for execution.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify potential risks early on, proactively mitigate them, and develop contingency plans. Utilize efficient processes to identify and respond to issues, risks as well as scope, schedule changes.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Effectively communicate program status and progress to senior executives, key stakeholders, and other relevant parties. Work with product and other key stakeholders to intake, and scope/shape large cross-functional programs, as well as ongoing re-assessment, refinement of multi phase/year initiatives. 
  • Performance Monitoring
    Track program metrics, identify areas for improvement, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure successful delivery.

 

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in a senior leadership or operational role (e.g., Director or equivalent), with a demonstrated track record of strategic planning and execution. Proven experience as an operational consultant or project manager within a medium to large organization, driving efficiency, process improvements, and business growth.
  • 4+ years working within SaaS-based business with exposure to cross-functional components including: engineering, analytics, commercial, etc. 
  • Experience supporting C-level executives, including direct interaction and strategic collaboration with multiple members of the Executive Team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire teams.
  • Proven experience in driving multiple strategic initiatives in parallel and ability to balance and prioritize different workstreams
  • Ability to utilize data to evaluate program health and drive decisions
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical, technical and problem solving skills
  • Effective and clear communicator
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience preferred
