Role Overview:
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the L&D team's success by delivering impactful learning solutions and maintaining essential resources to empower employees. We are looking for a driven and creative individual to join the L&D team, which plays a key role in supporting the success and continuous improvement of the Purchase Experience Operations team. The Learning & Development (L&D) team within the Purchase Experience Operations department is integral to addressing the learning needs of key operational areas, including Underwriting, Suitability, Annuity New Business, TeleApp, Long-Term Care, and Individual Disability. The team’s goal is to empower employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel through innovative learning solutions.
The L&D team focuses on two main priorities:
- Delivering Engaging Learning Content: The team creates high-quality, interactive materials aligned with the objectives of the Purchase Experience, covering system tools, processes, and company policies to boost individual and team performance.
- Maintaining the Underwriting Manual: The team manages the Underwriting manual, ensuring its accuracy and regular updates for employees to access current, reliable information for decision-making.
What You'll Do:
- Prioritizing, evaluating, and assessing training requests to meet organizational and departmental objectives.
- Designing and developing tailored curriculums for the Purchase Experience team.
- Creating and updating training content using virtual and in-person methods.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts for effective training delivery.
- Facilitating live webinars and virtual training sessions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Working with the Quality Control team to address learning gaps.
- Gathering feedback, tracking outcomes, and refining training programs.
- Updating the Underwriting manual to ensure accessibility and accuracy.
- Partnering with the Communications team to promote training programs.
- Utilizing advanced training tools and techniques.
- Managing requests submitted to the Learning & Development inbox.
- Coordinating logistics for zone trainers and promoting effective communication.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of insurance experience in Underwriting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Forms, SharePoint).
- Knowledge of learning and development tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate) is a plus.
- Experience with AI tools like CoPilot, GenAI, and ChatGPT.
- Familiarity with Underwriting and New Business Operations tools and processes.
- Familiarity with New York Life products, business strategies and services is preferred.
- Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Continuous improvement mindset and ability to work independently.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $70,000-$110,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
