Summary

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with Ruby knowledge. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing scalable, robust, and high-performance solutions to build upon our applications. As an engineer, you are a highly experienced and skilled professional, that often serves as a key technical lead. You play a critical role in guiding and influencing engineering decisions, solving complex technical challenges, setting standards for best practices, contributing to the development of overarching strategies, assuming leadership roles, and providing mentorship to other engineers.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  

Professional Experience

• 8+ years of experience building Software Applications.
• 5+ years of experience working with Ruby.

Required Skills

• Demonstrates expertise in developing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance web applications using the Ruby on Rails framework, with a strong understanding of Rails conventions and best practices.
• Experience with the TDD methodology and RSpec, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code through automated testing.
• Skilled in managing source code efficiently using Git for version control, with a track record of collaborating on large-scale projects through platforms like GitHub and GitLab.
• Proven experience in leading and participating in Agile teams, utilizing methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban to deliver high-quality software in iterative cycles.
• Expertise in designing, optimizing, and querying relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), including database schema design, indexing, and tuning for optimal performance.
• Capable of designing, building, and maintaining efficient and scalable APIs, utilizing REST, gRPC, and GraphQL for seamless integration and communication between services.
• Proficient in writing robust, automated tests (unit, integration) using frameworks like RSpec, and implementing Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure high-quality and bug-free code.
• Adept in containerizing applications using Docker and managing containerized environments with Kubernetes, ensuring streamlined deployments and scalability.
• Skilled in automating build, test, and deployment processes using CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and Jenkins, enabling faster, more reliable software delivery.
• Knowledgeable in implementing security best practices, including OWASP guidelines and OAuth protocols, to protect applications from vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
• Expert in improving application performance through techniques like caching (e.g., Redis, Memcached), query optimization, and writing efficient, clean code.
• Proficient in deploying and managing cloud-based applications on AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure, with hands-on experience in scaling infrastructure and using cloud-native services.
