The Brand
Sundays for Dogs is a venture backed direct-to-consumer brand with the goal to make life easier on the modern dog parent so that they may spend more quality time with their dog.

We enable dog parents to not have to choose between quality and convenience when seeking the world’s best dog food. We are a team dedicated to the mission and consider ourselves skydivers, not plane passengers. We decide fast, fail fast and learn fast. 

The Role & Team
Sundays for Dogs is in search of a strategic & data-driven Director of Ecommerce. The first of this kind, this role will bridge the gap between technology, marketing and data through the ownership of our digital product strategy.  You will own the digital product roadmap, shape the future of our website experience, and lead our transition to Shopify while maintaining a strategic lens on priorities. Success will be measured on conversion rate optimization, minimizing churn, and enhancing the overall ecommerce experience.

This role reports to our SVP of Marketing who runs a highly strategic and high functioning team. Our marketing team consists of brand, creative, performance marketing, retention, data and now ecommerce.  We recently completed an exciting rebrand and successfully relaunched our website, setting the stage for a new era of ecommerce growth and operations. As the Director of Ecommerce, you will lead a team of talented engineers and have the opportunity to hire a dedicated digital designer to enhance our user experience. We are a highly collaborative, data-driven group focused on innovation and strategic execution to drive business impact.

This is a fully remote position based in the US. 

Your Day to Day
  • Own the Digital Product Roadmap: Strategically map out website changes to enhance user experience and drive key business objectives.
  • Conversion Optimization & Retention Strategy: Improve conversion rates independent of paid media, reduce churn, and increase engagement through UX enhancements.
  • Shopify Implementation: Lead the transition to Shopify while ensuring a seamless customer experience and retention strategy.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) such as conversion rate, churn, and revenue growth. Develop a cadence for tracking and iterating on insights.
  • A/B Testing & Experimentation: Execute experiments to drive incremental improvements in conversion, leveraging analytics and insights to optimize the funnel.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with marketing, data, CX, and operations teams to ensure cohesive execution of ecommerce initiatives.
  • Strategic Prioritization: Act as the strategic decision-maker for ecommerce priorities, ensuring initiatives align with business goals and drive measurable impact.
  • UI/UX Product Design Leadership: Lead digital product design initiatives, ensuring an intuitive and conversion-focused user experience.
  • Harmonize Marketing & Data: Bridge the gap between creativity and analytics, ensuring a well-balanced approach to ecommerce growth.

  • What Success Looks Like
  • Short-Term (First 6 Months):

  • Improve conversion rates independent of paid media initiatives. 
  • Reduce churn through UX enhancements and strategic retention initiatives.
  • Drive internal buy-in and execution of ecommerce initiatives.
  • Introduce new functionality features to enhance customer retention.L

  • Long-Term (First Year & Beyond):

  • Lead and successfully execute Shopify re-platforming.
  • Scale ecommerce strategy through data-driven decision-making and digital innovation.
  • Drive consistent improvement in ecommerce KPIs, including customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), and revenue growth.

  • We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Experience working for a direct-to-consumer ecommerce brand (minimum $50M revenue).
  • Strong background in conversion rate optimization, ecommerce checkout flows, subscription management, churn prevention, and retention strategies.
  • Proven track record in digital product strategy, with a strong ability to define and execute website enhancements.
  • Experience working on the Shopify platform, with recent hands-on experience.
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles and their impact on conversion and retention.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze performance metrics and drive optimization.
  • Deep understanding of marketing strategies and how they integrate with ecommerce.
