This is a remote position.

OpenLoop is seeking an experienced physician in pediatric/adolescent weight management to join our virtual team! The physician will play a key role in helping patients achieve sustainable weight loss and improve their overall health. About the Position

This is an incredible work opportunity in a fast-paced, innovative company that puts the patient first. We hire clinical care professionals who deliver medical care using telemedicine modalities including video, phone, connected devices, and asynchronous messages (chat/email).

Physicians are members of an interdisciplinary care team working as staff clinicians with OpenLoop. They work independently and are responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making within the industry and locally established standards of care, clinical practice guidelines, and organization policies and procedures. The scope of medical decision-making focuses on common conditions that would present within an episodic, acute, or primary care medical practice. Responsibilities

  • Assesses, develops and recommends protocols and treatment plans, including but not limited to medication, for pediatric/adolescent patients seeking medical weight management.

  • Prescribe and monitor weight loss medications ensuring patient safety and efficacy.

  • Serve as a supervisor and subject matter expert to providers, clients, and the organization at large in the area of pediatric/adolescent obesity medicine. 

  • Conduct routine provider chart reviews ensuring patient safety and efficacy. 

  • Work cross-functionally with therapists, dietitians, nurses, medical assistants and non-clinical colleagues with a goal to continuously improve the pediatric/adolescent obesity medicine programs. 

  • Demonstrates flexibility by adapting as needed to change processes and practice in an evolving, ambiguous environment.

  • Communicates effectively with other providers, including using comprehensive charting and messaging.

  • Delivers patient care that balances the best that medical science has to offer alongside patient preferences and values, and also invests in patients' future confidence and skills.

  • Educate patients about the health risks of obesity and the benefits of sustainable weight loss.

  • Provide feedback about opportunities to improve the quality of care and operational processes.

  • Stay current with advances in medical weight loss treatments and contribute to the continuous improvement of program protocols.



Requirements
  • Board-certified physician (MD or DO) from a US-accredited medical school

  • Board-certified in Pediatrics and either Obesity Medicine or Endocrinology 

  • Must possess a minimum of 10 active state licenses from any of the following:

    • TOP PRIORITY: NY, NC, OH, WA, NJ, MD, AL, MS, CO, SC, MO, MN, OR, TN, WI, LA, MA, AZ, IN, AR, IA, UT, OK, KY

  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a practicing physician is required

  • Must have no history of malpractice

  • Prior experience in virtual care required

  • Prior experience in clinical protocol development and management for the purpose of guiding virtual care required

  • Prior experience with pediatric/adolescent medical weight loss/obesity care required

  • Computer proficiency with systems such as Google Suite, Slack, Notion, Zoho, and multiple electronic medical record systems required

  • Able to quickly adapt to new technologies, such as software and operating systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Team player with the ability to work cross-functionally across multiple teams and stakeholders 

  • Able to quickly pivot as needed in a rapidly growing startup environment 

  • Passionate about motivating and growing a successful team.
