Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of product certification? BSI Australia is seeking a dynamic Client Manager / Certification Manager to join our Product Certification team.

This exciting opportunity allows you to manage and develop certification schemes that impact a wide range of industries, with a primary focus on Benchmark, CE, UKCA, and Kitemark certifications.

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality product evaluations, ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of safety and compliance. With a focus on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Fire Safety Equipment/Fire Suppression Systems, you'll have the opportunity to work across a broader spectrum of sectors, including construction, plumbing, and electrical products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management and development of product certification schemes, focusing on Benchmark and extending to global standards such as CE, UKCA, and Kitemark.
  • Oversee product evaluations for PPE, fire safety equipment, and more.
  • Recommend the issue, re-issue, suspension or withdrawal of certificates, and report recommendations.
  • Proactively identifies new and/or amended product standards/directives and ensures BSI’s certification schemes are kept up to date and relevant to current market needs
  • Attend and contribute to Standards Committees, notified body working groups and other external bodies to represent BSI's interests.
  • Ensure the highest standards of product quality, safety, and compliance, delivering “right first time” evaluations.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships, maintaining satisfaction and driving commercial success.
  • Work to ensure new products are brought successfully to market, collaborating with Marketing, Sales and New Product Development to achieve this
  • Contribute to the growth of our product certification business while meeting key targets.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong Technical Background: A degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrated technical expertise, is essential.
  • Deep Knowledge of Standards: A solid understanding of Australian, International, European, and British Standards, along with an awareness of evolving certification and testing trends.
  • Certification Expertise: Familiarity with product certification, management systems, and testing principles, along with practical experience applying certification system standards and requirements.
  • Quality Assurance Expertise: A comprehensive understanding of quality systems, philosophies, and internal auditing practices, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Global Industry Awareness: An up-to-date knowledge of national and international developments in certification and testing standards, keeping you ahead of industry trends.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant product-related legislation and European Directives.
  • Assessment Skills: A solid grasp of assessment techniques, ideally with experience as a lead assessor—or a willingness to undertake training to achieve lead assessor qualifications.
  • Experience with Certification Bodies: Experience with certification techniques at BSI or a similar certification body, with a strong understanding of international quality standards like ISO 17065 and ISO 17025.
