The Senior Backend Engineer will support our software development to design, build and deploy our innovative products from prototype to production. They will design, develop, and optimize our data-rich and real-time backend services and API interfaces.
This is a Full-time, Fixed-term position located in Lisbon, Portugal, Berlin, Germany (or remote locations with a similar hour range), with an annual base salary range of [70,000€-80,000€]. Alternatively, this role is also available in the east coast of the US, with a corresponding annual base salary range of [120,000$-130,000$].
Design, develop and optimise our back-end services and infrastructure, to continuously improve efficiency, performance and quality.
Work with other engineers, data scientists and product managers to implement our short-term roadmap and long-term strategy.
Proactively drive changes to products, systems, processes and code collaboratively in a continuous improvement environment, including the delivery of a quarterly OKR process.
Be able to collaborate and communicate effectively across the whole organization.
Bring a strong sense of ownership and leadership to the team, to drive a first class engineering culture.
Proactively invest time in mentoring, learning and career development, both for yourself and for your peers.
As a Senior engineer, you will have a Masters of Computer Science or Engineering (or a related technical discipline) and 6+ years of experience of backend product development.
Experience in development with several programming languages, including Python, Golang and Typescript.
Experience in implementing data schemas and efficient queries for structured and unstructured databases such as Postgres and Elasticsearch.
Experience with backend service deployment, including cloud environments such as AWS, and provisioning tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
Ability to implement and automate comprehensive testing and deployment strategies and work alongside Technical Architects and Operations to support a mature release process for our products.
Good knowledge of security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption for both data and infrastructure.
An Agile mindset, excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Experience mentoring and coaching other members of the team, and interest in learning and developing in other engineering and data science skills.
