Job description

Overview:

A kind and thoughtful family in the Portola Valley area is seeking a full-time live-out nanny to care for their infant. The position can begin as early as February or as late as March 24. The schedule will be 4 week days 7am-6pm with an optional 5th day for 6 hours, 9am-3pm. The parents hope to find a career nanny who can engage their child in developmentally appropriate and educational activities and will stay with them long-term, eventually transitioning into more of a family assistant/house manager. 

Responsibilities:
  • Full infant/childcare; Providing a warm and loving environment while maintaining respectful boundaries and promoting independence. The family is hoping to find a nanny familiar with play-based philosophies such as Montessori and RIE but they are not strict about this. 
  • Eventual transportation to activities, play dates, and outings. They would love for their daughter to be social and attend classes, play dates, and activities including library and museum visits. 
  • Coordinating schedules for naps and meals, activities, and travel
  • Preparing bottles, sanitizing and cleaning child related items, and eventually cooking for the child as she begins eating solids 
  • Managing the tidiness and organization of the child's spaces and belongings 
  • Child-related laundry 
Qualifications:
  • Nurturing and warm personality and excited to grow with this family as they welcome additional children in the future 
  • Not super rigid but rather flexible in their approach to childcare. For example, the family has not done "cry it out" but baby is on great routine with sleeping by following her cues and have a schedule
  • Professional attitude and discreet 
  • Open to occasional weekend hours with notice if mom has to work (very rare)
  • Early childhood education background would be ideal but not required 
  • Comfortable in the pool/swimming would be nice but not required  
  • Bilingual in a second language would be a plus; mom speaks Spanish and dad speaks some French
Requirements:
  • Comfortable with a very friendly dog (25 lbs) who loves being around the baby 
  • Open to eventual travel with advance notice
  • Legal to work in the US
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, car provided for any on the job driving
  • Comfortable with parents who work from home some days. Both parents have hybrid jobs 
  • Up to date on vaccinations including willingness to get Covid and Flu vaccines annually if asked 
  • Trustline certified, or willing to certify 
Salary and Benefits:

$40-55 per hour plus applicable overtime
