Manager, Financial Aid

Job Description:

Job Purpose:  
The Community Solution Education System is hiring a Manager for Financial Aid. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, this role requires close collaboration with Admissions and Student Support teams to assist upcoming starts and continuing students. The Manager will oversee a small team of Financial Aid Advisors, ensuring smooth operations, compliance with federal and state regulations, and top-notch student support. The ideal candidate is an experienced Financial Aid professional with a strong focus on processes and eager to advance into a managerial role. Responsibilities include addressing students' financial aid needs, serving as an escalation point, and guiding team members. Preference for candidates in the Pacific Standard Time zone.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead and manage a small team of Financial Aid Counselors and Advisors in a contact center, handling staffing, training, performance, and team morale.
• Act as the point of contact for assigned colleges, attending bi-weekly admissions meetings and creating department reports.

• Serves as an escalation point for student financial aid needs and processes.

• Stay updated on federal and state financial aid rules, participate in policy adjustments, and ensure compliance.
• Hold weekly one-on-one meetings with staff to discuss performance, campus updates, and address concerns.
• Assist with staffing by conducting interviews and onboarding new team members.
• Manage scholarships and grants processing, including maintaining schedules and reports for accurate award distribution.
• Take accountability of any additional tasks or special projects assigned by Financial Aid Leadership.

Position Requirements:

Knowledge and Skillset:

• Proficiency in Excel and MS Word, with familiarity in financial aid software.
• Strong understanding of Title IV and financial regulations.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are important.
• Efficient time management in a fast-paced setting.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in financial aid as an Advisor/Counselor.
• At least 2 years' experience in a centralized financial aid office.
• Prior management experience preferred but not required.

Working Conditions: 

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
• May require domestic travel up to 20%.
