About the Role

Chronosphere is seeking a passionate, analytical, detailed oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll operations for our workforce of about 280+ employees across multiple US States and International locations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with multi-state and international payroll compliance, tax regulations and payroll systems.

You Will

  • Manage all aspects of payroll processing and submissions which includes semi-monthly and monthly payroll for about 280+ employees across different states in the US and countries internationally

  • Stay up to date with the local tax laws, labor regulations and statutory requirements

  • Manage relationships with EOR and ensure timely submission of variable pay to the respective payroll systems and also coordinate with them on International equity compliances

  • Manage administrative responsibilities with regard to Equity

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payroll including salary, bonuses, commissions and benefits deductions

  • Oversee compliance with federal, state and international payroll tax regulations

  • Coordinate with hourly employees’ managers to ensure timekeeping records are completed and submitted on time for payroll processing.

  • Manage payroll systems and records ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality

  • Support the 401(k) administrative function (processing contributions and ensure the integrations between the payroll and the 401(k) systems are working smoothly

  • Partner with people operations team on 401(k) audits

  • Collaborate closely with people operations team to ensure the accurate collection of payroll data

  • Lead year end processes including W-2 generation and distribution

  • Provide excellent support to employees regarding payroll inquiries

  • Process and reconcile payroll taxes, garnishments and benefits deductions

  • Prepare monthly reconciliation schedules for 401(k), FSA, HSA and commuter liabilities

  • Take care of new state registrations as well responding to State notices

  • Provide payroll data and support Workers Compensation audits

  • Support the R&D tax credits calculations and filings

  • Support ad-hoc projects as needed

You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • 5+ years of payroll management experience, including multi-state payroll

  • Experience managing relationships with EOR

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements

  • Experience with payroll audits, 401(k) audits and compliance reviews

  • Experience working at an early stage tech startup, or small team within a larger company

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Experience with Payroll systems

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Rippling, Deel, Remote, Fidelity systems

  • Understanding of general ledger and accounting principles
