Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

We're the DEMS Backend Core team, and we're on a mission to enhance our Digital Evidence Management System. Our goal is straightforward: we want to build intuitive platforms that empower our engineers to do amazing work - going further, faster, for less. We're looking for a talented Software Engineer who shares our passion for innovation and is excited to help usher our organization into a Kubernetes-first future. Our programming work is primarily in Golang and Scala, and our Cloud Kubernetes ecosystem is built on Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD and Terraform.

What You’ll Do

Location: Work from home as much as you want, live nearby any of our awesome US R&D Hubs (Seattle, Scottsdale, Atlanta, or Boston) so you can easily collab in-person when it’s helpful and be an active part of our vibrant Axon culture
Reports to: Senior Software Engineering Manager

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of our Kubernetes strategy. Here's a glance at what you'll be responsible for:

  • Own it: You'll take charge of our cloud Kubernetes systems, ensuring smooth deployments at the cluster level.
  • Be a Champion: We need your expertise to help improve Kubernetes best practices, focusing on tools, training, and gathering continuous feedback from the team.
  • Drive Success: Ultimately, your work will lead to measurable reductions in costs across our Kubernetes clusters as we scale our operations.
  • You'll partner with various teams across our entire organization - from the Infrastructure and Platform teams that enable our work, to the product teams that benefit from it.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, OR graduate of coding boot camp OR 3+ years of relevant experience in related field
  • 2+ years of software development experience in any Object-Oriented or Functional language and 3+ years working specifically with Kubernetes, ideally in a CI/CD environment.
  • Backend experience in managed languages such as Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in Golang is preferred, but it's not a deal-breaker!
  • A true SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) mindset—someone who tackles challenges with a software-forward approach and isn't afraid to innovate and solve problems.
Benefits that Benefit You
  • Competitive salary and 401k with employer match
  • Discretionary paid time off
  • Paid parental leave for all
  • Medical, Dental, Vision plans
  • Fitness Programs
  • Emotional & Mental Wellness support
  • Learning & Development programs
