The Data Scientist will design, implement, and rigorously evaluate experiments as a means to identify voters and inform campaign strategies throughout the Democratic ecosystem.
About our Data Team:The Data Team is focused on building and constantly improving our best-in-class database of known likely unregistered eligible voters to empower our partners to create a more representative electorate. We run and evaluate hundreds of experiments to determine the most efficient methods of converting unregistered eligible people into habitual progressive voters.
The Data Scientist is an individual contributor on our Data Team, and reports to our Director of Data and Analytics.

Civitech seeks to revolutionize civic participation by bringing innovation and creativity to politics.What You Will Do:Collaborate with internal and third-party validation teams to rigorously examine impact of various interventions, both controlled and observed, in the outcomes of the 2024 election cycleBuild and iterate on models to help users understand and make actionable decisions on our datasets (ex: model to determine how likely someone is to vote or not)Help design and build systems for matching records across databasesContribute to the design and implementation of experiments on our voter outreach products, helping to improve efficiency of our client programs and informing the ecosystem on best practicesDevelop and manage automated processes that ingest, clean, and standardize large amounts of data from multiple disparate sources to increase the breadth and accuracy of our voter datasetsAbout You:2+ years of industry experience as a data scientist, and have experience applying computer science, statistics, or a related technical disciplineStrong background in experimental design and implementationProficient at performing robust statistical analysisExcellent SQL skills, proficient in Python, familiar with dbtCommitted to leveraging technology and data products to help Democratic candidates run for office and win, empower progressive causes, and increase civic participationAdditional Qualifications (desired but not required):On the ground campaign experience (paid or unpaid)Experience building CLI tools and dockerizing themWillingness to travel to Austin for onboarding weekCivitech is headquartered in Austin, TX, with employees in various states across the country. The Data Scientist can work from our Austin co-working space or remotely in any of the 22 states currently in Civitech’s footprint (AK, CA, CO, DE, FL, HI, IL, MA, MN, ND, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, WY).
