As a Software Engineering Intern on the FlightHub team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that make a real impact on the aviation industry. You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to develop, test, and deploy features for the FlightHub platform, which helps airlines reduce their environmental footprint and improve profitability.
What You Will Do:
- Apply your software development skills to design, implement, integrate, and test applications for the FlightHub platform, with a focus on the FlightHub Electronic Flight Folder (EFF) & Flight Profile Optimization (FPO) solution.
- Work with real-time data processing systems that analyze flight paths, weather conditions, and air traffic to recommend the most efficient routes for aircraft.
- Debug, maintain, and enhance existing applications to improve performance and efficiency for commercial and military aviation clients.
- Gain experience in cloud-based technologies (AWS) and data-driven decision-making tools that have a direct impact on fuel savings and sustainability.
- Participate in agile development cycles, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
What You Will Learn:
- You will gain insights into the aviation industry’s sustainability efforts and how flight optimization tools like FPO are helping airlines meet carbon-neutral goals while reducing operational costs.
- Learn to work with advanced data analytics, real-time processing, and cloud computing technologies in the context of flight operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system engineers, UI/UX designers, and software architects, to develop integrated solutions for flight efficiency.
- Develop problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios that involve balancing fuel savings, environmental impact, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Familiarity with Apple's XCode IDE for iOS application development.in SWIFT
- Experience with backend programming languages like Python.
- Basic understanding of data structures, object-oriented principles, and algorithms.
- Coursework or experience in mobile development, backend development, or cloud computing.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
