Job Title: Junior Instructional Designer

Location: Remote from Colorado or Texas, USA
 

Position Overview: ServiceMax has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Instructional Designer / Developer to join our growing Product Training team. In this role, you will assist in the design, development, and maintenance of engaging and innovative training materials covering the ServiceMax application suite. Working closely with subject matter experts, you will help create a variety of learning solutions, including blended learning materials, hands-on activities, and on-demand video training, to educate customers, partners, and employees on key features and functionality of ServiceMax products. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about course design and development, with a strong desire to convey complex technical concepts in creative and engaging ways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of a range of learning solutions, including instructor-led presentations, participant guides, eLearning modules, hands-on labs, and blended learning activities.
  • Support the management of curriculum maintenance plans, including creating new content and updating existing materials based on product updates and learner needs.
  • Develop and implement a course maintenance schedule for eLearning tutorials and certification material updates to ensure ongoing relevance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, across different time zones to learn about new features, identify training needs, and align learning objectives while being flexible to accommodate diverse work schedules.
  • Help configure and customize the ServiceMax application for training activities, simulating real-world scenarios on both web and mobile platforms.
  • Design and incorporate interactive elements into existing courses to enhance learner engagement and retention.
  • Conduct gap analysis to ensure training materials meet learner needs and align with our certification and enablement goals.
  • Stay current on ServiceMax product developments and implement new features into training materials to maintain relevance.
  • Contribute to the certification and training operations process by assisting in the development of learning paths, course structures, and assessments.
  • Write transcripts for AI audio and document video demo steps for handoff to video producers/editors.
  • Utilize graphic design skills to create visually appealing and compelling/ engaging training materials, leveraging tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as Articulate 360.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Communications, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 0-3 years in instructional design, curriculum development, or related fields; experience or internships in technical writing or content development is preferred. Familiarity with the field service industry is a plus.
  • Instructional Design Knowledge: Basic understanding of instructional design principles and technical curriculum development, with familiarity in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and mobile learning strategies.
  • Graphic Design Knowledge: Basic understanding of graphic design principles including layout and visual hierarchy.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Self-Motivation: A driven self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, capable of self-managing and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work well in a globally distributed team and adapt to diverse work environments.

Travel Requirement: Minimal (1-2x year offsite team meetings)

All candidates must submit a portfolio showcasing previous technical curriculum and instructional design projects to be considered for this position.
