About Our Corporate Counsel: 

This is a terrific opportunity for a team-oriented person to make a difference in a start-up environment for an auto insurance company. The successful candidate will bring a positive and entrepreneurial attitude to our small, collegial team. This is a generalist position, but the position and responsibilities can be narrowed and tailored for the right candidate. The candidate may work with Marketing, Sales, Agency, IT, Security, Finance, Product, Claims, Compliance, and other departments on various matters involving legal research, contracts, litigation, and corporate governance.

Job Responsibilities:     

• Perform legal research and provide legal advice on various matters involving insurance, marketing, sales, privacy, security, intellectual property, and corporate issues.
• Monitor legal developments and assist with risk mitigation strategies.
• Review, analyze, and draft routine and complex contracts including NDAs, SOWs, master service agreements, licensing agreements, and SaaS agreements.
• Help maintain the corporate governance of five legal entities.
• Review marketing campaign strategies, content, and communications.
• Help manage corporate litigation, subpoenas, and other discovery requests and legal notices.
• Assist with the review of company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Help manage engagements and relationships with outside counsel.
• Work closely with the Compliance, Risk, and Audit teams.

Required Qualifications:             

• Excellent analytical and legal research skills.
• Ability to provide practical, solution-oriented legal services and advice.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing business environment and needs.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with others at all levels of the organization.
• Admission to the practice of law in Virginia or be admitted in another state and eligible for corporate counsel admission in Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications:            

• Familiarity with property and casualty insurance is helpful.

Location:

• WFH - Work from Home
• Exceptional remote candidates will be considered, but Richmond area candidates are preferred.

Salary:

• $100,000 – $125,000
