INTECON, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications Integration Lead to support AFWERX’s Strategic Communications and Events Teams. This role is responsible for ensuring seamless coordination between the strategic communications strategists and the events team, aligning strategic planning with event execution to maximize program impact. The selected candidate will play a key role in integrating messaging, branding, and strategic objectives into AFWERX events, ensuring they are aligned with broader organizational goals and program milestones.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Communications Integration Lead will:
- Ensure open and continuous communication between the events team and strategic communications strategists, facilitating efficient collaboration.
- Lead regular coordination meetings to track progress, discuss challenges, and share updates between both teams.
- Ensure that both teams understand their responsibilities and priorities, fostering alignment and minimizing misunderstandings.
- Work with strategic communications strategists to integrate program milestones, messaging, and objectives into event planning and execution.
- Ensure that the branding, messaging, and objectives of AFWERX events are consistent with the overall program strategy.
- Coordinate event timelines with program key dates, such as product launches, major updates, or key AFWERX initiatives.
- Monitor progress on both sides, ensuring that deadlines for event deliverables and program tasks are met.
- Identify and mitigate potential scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, or overlapping deadlines between the teams.
- Proactively identify and address potential issues in integrating program and event efforts, implementing solutions that keep both teams on track.
- Ensure the events team receives necessary support from the communications strategists, enabling successful execution of program-aligned events.
- Collect and analyze feedback and performance data from events, evaluating their effectiveness in supporting program goals and suggesting improvements.
- Provide strategic communications strategists with key data and insights from events to refine and improve future program strategies.
- Ensure that internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, are informed about event progress, alignment with program goals, and major developments.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that AFWERX’s communications and event strategies drive engagement and mission success.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Project Management, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred in Business Administration (MBA), Organizational Management, Strategic Management, or Advanced Event Management.
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in event management, program management, or integration roles within a corporate, government, or military setting.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between communications and event execution.
- Proven track record of leading complex events, including conferences, trade shows, corporate meetings, or large-scale programs.
- Experience serving as a Program Manager or Project Manager in multi-phase, high-profile initiatives.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, capable of working under pressure and handling multiple responsibilities concurrently.
- Familiarity with the full event lifecycle, from strategic planning through execution and post-event analysis.
- Ability to align event planning with organizational objectives, ensuring that AFWERX messaging and branding are consistently represented.
- Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and coordination, working across government, industry, and media teams.
- Ability to analyze event performance data, providing data-driven recommendations for process improvement and strategy refinement.
- Strong ability to work autonomously in a highly dispersed, remote organization.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, ensuring seamless collaboration and execution.
- Flexibility to adapt to fast-paced environments, demonstrating strong time management skills under tight deadlines.
Certifications and Training
Preferred certifications:
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred but not required)
- Certified Government Meeting Professional (CGMP)
- Certified Event Management Expert (CEME)
Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
- Event planning and coordination software (Cvent, Eventbrite, Bizzabo)
- Project management tools (Jira, Asana, Trello, Monday.com)
Specialized Training in:

Security Clearance
Active Secret Clearance required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret (TS/SCI) if needed.
