Full-Stack Developer (Ruby)

We’re hiring a Full-Stack Developer for one of the fastest-growing VC-backed healthtech companies in the country. If you’re a Ruby developer who loves building impactful applications and prefers working directly at product companies rather than consulting or dev shops, this role is for you. You’ll be developing tools that directly support clinical and operational teams—solving real-world problems that make a difference.

What You’ll Do

• Start with a key project: building a mini application to support clinical quality checks.
• Design and develop scalable full-stack applications using Ruby on Rails, with an even split between front-end and back-end tasks.
• Manage relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server) to ensure performance, reliability, and integrity.
• Build tools, services, and features that address real-world healthcare and operational challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
• Ensure applications are optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability.

What We’re Looking For

• Full-Stack Development Experience: 5+ years of experience as a full-stack developer, building scalable, production-level applications.
• Ruby on Rails Expertise: Proven experience developing production-ready applications using Ruby on Rails, including API development, background jobs, and performance optimization.
• JavaScript/React Knowledge: Experience working with React (or similar modern frontend frameworks). Bonus if you have Next.js experience.
• Relational Database Skills: Strong understanding of SQL databases (Postgres, MySQL, etc.) and experience designing, optimizing, and maintaining them.
• Work History: Stable career progression with minimal job hopping. We prefer candidates with direct product company experience (not primarily consulting or dev shops), ideally with startup experience.
• Healthcare Industry Exposure: Experience in healthcare is a plus but not required.
