For our newly established innovation and digitalization team We are seeking a skilled and innovative Virtual Reality Instructional Designer to join our team. As a Virtual Reality Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing engaging and interactive learning experiences using VR and XR technology. You will collaborate with subject matter experts to design VR / XR-based instructional materials that effectively educate and train learners in various fields.
Key Responsibilities:
Ø Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other stakeholders to analyze learning needs and define the scope of individual products for the required target audience and goals.
Ø Create up-front VR learning product design specifications, identifying overall goals, demonstrable learning objectives/outcomes, target audience, required environment and assets, product framework, assessment requirements etc.
Ø Define the “Flow” and design storyboards for VR/XR scenarios, simulations and interactive activities incorporating instructional strategies, methodologies, and best practices into VR/XR content development.
Ø Create compelling storylines and narratives that enhance the learning experience.
Ø Collaborate closely with the VR/XR development team for the development of immersive environments and interactive elements.
Ø Conduct thorough quality assurance testing to ensure the functionality and effectiveness of VR instructional materials.
Ø Stay up to date with emerging trends in virtual reality technology and instructional design techniques.
Ø Collaborate with multimedia designers, UX designers, e-learning developers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of VR content into larger training programs or platforms.
Ø Provide guidance and support to trainers or facilitators in delivering effective VR-based instruction.
Ø Evaluate the impact of VR instruction on learner performance and make necessary improvements based on feedback.
Ø Maintain project documentation, including design documents, storyboards, and project timelines
We are looking for:
Ø Minimum 2 years’ experience as a VR Instructional Designer, preferably with a background in training.
Ø In-depth knowledge of instructional design standards and principles, and application of adult learning theories within the virtual space.
Ø Familiarity with virtual reality authoring tools (e.g., Unity) for designing virtual environments is desirable but not essential.
Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Ø Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Ø Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality instructional materials.
Ø Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to design engaging VR experiences that meet specific learning objectives.
Ø A portfolio or examples of previous VR instructional design projects would be advantageous.
Ø This role is based out of Chennai location and remote working is only possible to an extent.
Note: Due to the nature of this role, experience or knowledge in virtual reality technology and its applications is highly desirable.
