Job description

Title: Senior Director of Product Management and Design

Location: USA/Remote
Reports to: Vice President of Product Management
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Full-Time or Part-Time: Full-Time
Salary Range: $160,000 - $190,000
* Starting pay varies based on location and experience, in compliance with specific state wage regulations. Competitive rates tailored to your geography and expertise.

Position Overview:

The Senior Director of Product Management and Design leads and oversees independent research, ideation, design, requirements definition, and acceptance testing to release new digital and software products. Core to this role is the development, maintenance, and dissemination of product management processes and procedures, as well as the oversight of product roadmaps. This position collaborates closely with product teams to release multiple products and/or suites of products in alignment with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide deep expertise in product management and design processes, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals.
  • Engage executive stakeholders to align product strategies with company objectives.
  • Manage and mentor Product Management team members, fostering growth and development in product management practices.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Product Management and Product Leadership team to refine and improve product management processes, artifacts, and procedures.
  • Develop and continuously enhance familiarity with clinical domains, Revenue Cycle Management, and relevant technologies, including:
    • Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
    • Machine Learning (ML)
    • Data Warehouses
  • Manage contractors and vendors supporting product management, product operations, and related services.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team and VP of Product Management to ensure product positioning aligns with market needs and benefits are clearly communicated.
  • Drive collaboration with business units, software development, QA, configuration, and delivery teams to release new products and feature sets, including:
    • Engaging with customers and subject matter experts to document and validate requirements.
    • Managing and reviewing contributions from the product management team.
    • Overseeing design and development efforts, tracking project status, and ensuring alignment with business needs.
    • Providing quality assurance teams with input for test coverage and conducting acceptance testing.
  • Develop and deliver supporting materials, including documentation, multimedia content, and training materials for executive stakeholders and end users.
  • Contribute to the company’s marketing strategy from a product offerings perspective.
  • Design, lead, and oversee discovery and design projects for requirements definition.
  • Establish strategic goals for the product management team and break them down into measurable objectives.
  • Assess market needs, conduct competitive analysis, and document industry trends to inform product strategy.
  • Produce clear documentation, diagrams, and presentations to facilitate product development and communication.
  • Create mockups, screen flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes to convey design concepts to development and QA teams.
  • Perform critiques and provide constructive feedback on product management artifacts, including documents, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Conduct user acceptance and accessibility testing using prototypes or pre-release software.
  • Lead product development and delivery process improvements, including the creation of internal training programs and materials.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to guide and develop Product Managers while providing strategic product leadership.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to draft product requirement documents and deliver engaging presentations.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate complex challenges and drive effective product solutions.
Education and Experience:
  • 5+ years managing product management and/or software development teams of at least 2-4 people.
  • 7+ years of experience in data-intensive domains such as Revenue Cycle Management or similar financial spaces.
  • 9+ years of experience collaborating with teams to design and launch software products and digital solutions.
  • Professional experience in:
    • Developing artifacts to explain software requirements, designs, or concepts.
    • Using issue tracking systems to request features, report defects, and track progress.
    • Performing product testing/review to validate requirements and designs.
    • Training customers on software products through marketing briefs, guides, webinars, or other formats.
    • Managing and tracking product roadmaps across a team.
Technical Skills:
  • Design & Diagramming Software: Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, and wireframing tools.
  • Office & Collaboration Tools: Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs, SharePoint, Confluence.
  • Issue Tracking & Project Management: Microsoft DevOps, JIRA, YouTrack.
