Position Overview

Adaptive’s Legal team is seeking a creative, agile, and diligent attorney to join.  As an integral member of the Legal Department, this role will help in implementing and ensuring compliance with the Company’s domestic and global programs and policies in accordance with law. This team provides leadership and counsel across Adaptive to enable consistent, effective practices which minimize risk.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Provide legal guidance and risk assessments on behalf of Adaptive.
  • Monitor laws, regulations, and guidance to ensure ongoing compliance, track emerging risks and assist with policy creation and other program materials.
  • Independently work with internal clients and legal colleagues to negotiate agreements, business associate agreements, standard contractual clauses, data use agreements, and other agreements
  • Contribute to the improvement of standard forms of agreements, alternate language playbooks, and internal resource documents.
  • Independently develop and implement policies and processes; maintain and improve processes and workflows.
  • Advise leadership in the business in assessing and responding to legal risks related to relevant functions; advance a positive spirit of solution-oriented partnership and collaboration with internal clients, internal legal colleagues and outside counsel.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Other)

Required

  • Juris Doctorate from a nationally accredited law school
  • At least 5+ years prior in-house or law firm experience providing legal counsel on the laws and regulations relating to biotech/pharma industry
  • Strong understanding with global privacy and data protection laws (including HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA and similar U.S. state laws).

Preferred

  • Strong verbal and written business communication skills are essential: highly adept at synthesizing and summarizing complex and/or voluminous content into clear, concise and actionable communications.
  • Ability to work under fast-paced conditions, comfortable making decisions and demonstrates good judgment.
  • Strong project management skills: can prioritize multiple tasks and goals to ensure timely, on-target and within-budget accomplishments.

Compensation

Salary Range: $168,000 - $252,000

Other compensation elements include:

  • equity grant
  • bonus eligible

Adaptive’s posted compensation information includes a base salary (or hourly rate) range and summary of other available total compensation. The base salary range represents a minimum-to-maximum salary (or hourly rate) available to candidates upon extension of offer. Base salary is thoughtfully considered upon offer and is determined through multiple evaluation checks throughout the interview process, including: a candidate’s ability to meet minimum qualifications (skills/experience/education), a candidate’s ability to thoughtfully address preferred qualifications, current market conditions, and internal pay equity. Listed base salary is exclusive of bonus, commission, equity, differential pay, benefits, and other incentives.
