Job description

We are hiring a Senior Middleware Specialist – IBM MQ for a 6-month project, with the possibility of extension. This is an exciting opportunity to join our client's team remotely in Europe. In this role, you will manage and optimize middleware services, ensuring reliability, scalability, and automation of IBM MQ and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in and enhance the entire service lifecycle—from inception and design to deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze ITSM activities on the platform and provide feedback to development teams regarding operational gaps and resiliency concerns.
  • Support services before they go live by conducting system design consultations, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
  • Maintain live services by proactively measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health using automated alerts.
  • Ensure sustainable scaling through automation and drive improvements that enhance reliability and velocity.
  • Implement effective incident response strategies and conduct detailed postmortems to prevent future issues.
  • Take a holistic approach to problem-solving by analyzing the entire technology stack during production incidents to minimize mean time to recovery.
  • Collaborate with a global team spanning multiple geographies and time zones.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior team members to foster growth and technical excellence.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong in algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design.
  • Expertise in debugging, code optimization, automation, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Skilled in handling critical situations and making urgent decisions.
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, large-scale system troubleshooting, and automation.
  • Experienced in cross-functional teamwork across development, operations, and product teams.
  • Hands-on with Git/BitBucket, Jenkins, Chef, and CI/CD pipeline optimization.
  • Familiarity with IBM MQ, Kafka, NATS, or similar technologies is a plus.
