Job description

Making Cents International seeks a Research Director for the anticipated USAID/Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) Analytical Services V (AS V) Activity. ASV will provide a range of services–including analysis, assessment, research, training, communications, knowledge management, and rapid-response technical resources and support–to the DRG Bureau, USAID Missions, and other USAID operating units to inform and advance DRG approaches and programming. 
 
This position is contingent upon winning a contract award.
 
Role and Tasks
The Research Director will manage all aspects of the contract pertaining to research, analysis, and technical assistance on DRG. The Research Director will use proven USAID approaches and methodologies to lead and oversee all research activities under the contract. The successful candidate must have significant DRG analytical experience. The Research Director will report to Analytical Services V Senior Program Director.

The Research Director will be responsible for the following:

•    Managing all aspects of research, analysis, and technical assistance
•    Ensuring the high quality and rigor of analytical services delivered
•    Developing study designs
•    Leading and overseeing the methodological and technical aspects of implementing analytical services, including research design using applied USAID approaches and rigorous scientific methodologies
•    Coordinating with USAID on study designs, instruments, data collection, data security and privacy, data analysis, writing, and dissemination

Work Schedule
This position is a full-time position (40 hours per week) based in the Washington, DC area. 

Required Qualifications
•    PhD   with 10 years of relevant experience with DRG research, learning, and analysis or MA with 12 years of experience
•    Experience conducting USAID-funded DRG analytical activities
•    Demonstrated experience applying different research frameworks/methodologies, and best practices in research utilization and dissemination, including qualitative and quantitative methods
•    Experience working with local universities, think thanks, and consultancies preferred
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•    Proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic preferred
