Job description

The Content Production Strategist is a fundamental role in the content production department and is key to its overall success. Strategists should have a solid grasp on creating content for varied projects and audiences. Strategists should be clear and effective communicators with strong interpersonal skills that help with fostering relationships internally and externally.

This is a Hybrid or full-time Remote position. It’s a Hybrid role if you live in the Central Illinois area, which requires you to be in the Peoria, IL office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with the option to work from home Monday and Friday.


As a Content Production Strategist, my objectives are:
  • To deliver customer-focused content across web and social channels.
  • To effectively implement content planning and strategy across projects.
  • To make regular recommendations for content optimization throughout the content production approach.
  • To work with the content production team as well as across departments to produce high-volume and cost-effective customer-focused assets in a timely manner.

The outcomes I need to produce for clients are:
  • Help them achieve their target results in the content we produce for them.
  • Plan strategy meetings and workshops — with clients and internal teams — to assess the gap between current and upcoming content to meet business goals and audience needs.
  • Produce quality content that adheres to their brand, legal, voice and messaging needs.
  • Build their confidence in our agency’s ability to deliver efficiently and with accuracy.

The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are:
  • Partner with creative and activation teams to outline content architecture and develop content models that support user-centered interfaces and designs that meet client business objectives.
  • Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert on content production within the agency, with clients and the industry at large.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, freelancers, vendors and clients.
  • Be willing and eager to try/learn new things.
  • Advocate for best practices and process improvements that will lead to growth and strengthening of the content production service line.

To produce these outcomes, I need to:
  • Partner with the content production project planner and Simantel’s client services teams on existing client needs to deliver high-volume, value-driven work.
  • Fully understand the strategy and client needs of each project.
  • Be detail-oriented and organized with the ability to quickly reprioritize tasks to meet demand.
  • Be a team player and open to collaboration.
  • Balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Provide project context to writers so they can have client goals in mind as they produce content.
  • Direct writers and editors in content production.
  • Write and edit content that meets project goals and end-user needs.
  • Create editorial calendars to forecast and track content across the project.
  • Collaborate on the development of content style guides, content best practices and governance processes that can be applied broadly across multiple digital channels.

The skills and abilities I require are:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, technical writing, marketing or equivalent experience/training.
  • Ability to think critically and make decisions on best ways to present content to different audiences.
  • Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to see both the big picture and the small details.
  • Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Empathy and understanding of others’ working styles and approaches.
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
  • A willingness to learn.

  • Identifying and training new writers for content production.
