MERIT is seeking a Proposal Development Associate assists in the day-to-day activities regarding proposal development strategies to meet organizational objectives. Responsible for creating comprehensive and competitive budgets and proposals that highlight MERITs capabilities and win new business opportunities. Assists in creating new ideas and strategies to promote Company products and services.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of all Company products and services to meet the mission and goals of the enterprise. Establishes and maintains routine communication among the division and other designated parties.
  • Assists in the preparation and development of responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) and grant opportunities issued by clients for potential business opportunities.
  • Work closely with sales, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to gather relevant information and insights. Collaborate with the team to ensure a comprehensive and accurate proposal.
  • Develop clear, concise, and compelling proposals that address the client's requirements. This may include writing executive summaries, technical sections, methodology, timelines, and other components as needed.
  • Ensure that the proposal is well-formatted, visually appealing, and follows any specific formatting requirements outlined in the RFP. Pay attention to details, such as fonts, graphics, and overall layout, to enhance readability.
  • Ensure that the proposal adheres to all the requirements specified in the RFP. Check for compliance with formatting, submission guidelines, and any other instructions provided by the client.
  • Coordinate the proposal development process, manage timelines, and communicate effectively with team members to meet deadlines. This may involve working on multiple proposals simultaneously.
  • Maintain a repository of reusable content, such as boilerplate text, case studies, and other relevant materials, to streamline future proposal development processes.
  • Evaluate the success and effectiveness of proposals, gather feedback, and participate in post-proposal reviews to identify areas for improvement in future submissions.
  • Participate in client presentations or meetings to discuss and clarify proposal details.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, especially excel is required.
  • Prior experience with proposal development, clinical research, or ophthalmology is required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to follow directions, assess company needs and work independently. Computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office software and ability to learn company specific software. Must be able to project a professional attitude and image appropriate for the work environment. Ability to multi-task with an understanding that priorities and timelines shift.00Ability to participate and contribute in a team environment as a team member.
