INTECON, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Private Capital Project Specialist to support the AFWERX Capital Initiatives Division (RGI). This role serves as a critical interface between the DoD, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and commercial technology companies, enhancing private sector investment in AFWERX-funded companies. The selected candidate will be responsible for market research, business strategy development, and investor engagement to accelerate dual-use technology commercialization.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Private Capital Project Specialist will:
- Conduct market research and investor engagement to identify capital investment opportunities supporting AFWERX-funded ventures.
- Develop operational and network mapping to structure program activities, ensuring alignment with AFWERX and DoD investment strategies.
- Assist in contracting activities and documentation to support program/project managers and leadership.
- Support business strategy development, focusing on the integration of private capital investment with SBIR/STTR-funded initiatives.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between government stakeholders, industry leaders, and capital investors.
- Prepare presentations, reports, white papers, and technical documentation to communicate investment opportunities and commercialization strategies.
- Assist in the development and execution of branding, storytelling, and marketing materials for AFWERX investment initiatives.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative financial data, providing data-driven insights for decision-making.
- Translate highly complex financial and investment topics into digestible formats for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage multiple competing priorities, demonstrating strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with both external investors and internal stakeholders, ensuring the alignment of business and investment strategies.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Technology Management, Public Policy, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in private capital investment, venture funding, or technology commercialization within the defense innovation ecosystem.
- Deep understanding of venture capital, private equity, corporate investment strategies, and early-stage technology funding.
- Experience working with the DoD, AFWERX, SBIR/STTR programs, or other federal investment initiatives.
- Strong data analysis skills, capable of synthesizing market intelligence, investment trends, and financial data to inform strategy.
- Ability to translate complex financial and investment concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with senior government officials, venture capital firms, and industry executives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, document, and execute investment strategies, ensuring alignment with AFWERX’s innovation goals.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining relationships with venture capitalists, private investors, and defense contractors.
- Familiarity with government contracting, funding mechanisms, and technology acquisition pathways.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Certifications and Training:
Preferred certifications:
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
- Certified Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred but not required)
Proficiency in:
- Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- CRM platforms, market analysis tools, and investment modeling software
Specialized Training in:
- Technology Commercialization & Venture Financing
- Financial Modeling & Market Intelligence Analysis
- SBIR/STTR Program Execution & DoD Investment Policy
Security Clearance:
Active Secret Clearance required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret (TS/SCI) if needed.
