Essential Job Functions
- Install and upgrade new and existing vendor software.
- Upgrade software from multiple vendors simultaneously.
- Apply vendor fixes and resolve software abends with limited assistance.
- Respond to customer requests effectively and quickly.
- Perform changes, IMACs (Install, Move, Add, Change), and manage incidents and problem tickets in Service Center.
- Provide on-call support on a 7 x 24 rotation.
- Access and utilize vendor (CA) Support Connect tools.
- Debug and analyze problems with little or no guidance.
- Make IDMS performance monitoring and tuning recommendations.
Technical Expertise
- Explain the IDMS Central Version (CV) and how it differs from Local mode processing.
- Explain install/upgrade and PTF application procedures.
- Explain IDMS journal and log procedures, including offloading.
- Explain IDMS USERMODS, their usage, and purpose.
- Explain how and when to use Operations commands.
- Explain IDMS security and its relationship to MVS Security Systems (ACF2, RACF, and Top Secret).
- Explain the relationship between logical IDMS definitions and physical IDMS objects.
- Explain SMP/E and how it is used.
- Demonstrate knowledge of OCF commands.
- Show understanding of secondary dictionaries and their usage.
- Demonstrate participation in at least one IDMS recovery at an offsite location.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with the z/OS and OS/390 environments.
- Experience with TSO and ISPF.
- Ability to write and code OS JCL in detail.
- Basic coding skills in COBOL and Assembler.
- Experience working with Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and SharePoint.
- Experience with Integrated Quality Management System methodologies.
Other Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and effectively in English.
- Experience making recommendations for performance and tuning improvements.
- Familiarity with IDMS operations and maintenance processes.
Work Environment
- Remote opportunity within the United States.
- May require evening and/or weekend work.
Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $91,400 - $169,700.
Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program.
