The Managing Director, Consulting plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of VEIC. This position leads the consulting division with responsibility for developing and executing strategic initiatives, partnering with Business Development to contribute to revenue growth, fostering existing client relationships, and building a high-performing team.

 

 

Location:

This is a remote position, and the ideal candidate will be located in the states where VEIC conducts business: CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MT, NJ, NY, PA, OH, RI, VA, VT, AND WI. Please note that while we welcome applicants from many areas, we do not currently hire in the following parts of New York: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. Compensation:

At VEIC, we are committed to pay transparency. The starting pay range for this position will be between $175,000 - $195,000 annually. Based on market data, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and location. Please discuss your intended work location with the recruiter for more information. The total compensation package for this position also includes a full range of medical benefits, 403(b) eligibility with match, Combined Time Off (CTO), Care and Concern leave, Parental leave, wellbeing benefit, community service day, and eight paid holidays that are effective as of your first day of employment.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: 
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy to effectively deliver our energy consulting services and expand on existing opportunities. 
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and threats to stay ahead in the dynamic energy industry. 
  • Drive innovation in service offerings to meet evolving client needs. 
  • Client Engagement: 
  • In close partnership with the business development team, identify business opportunities to grow revenue and market share. 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry partners, and stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and execute effective growth strategies. 
  • Team Management: 
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a leadership team of directors, ensuring the broader consulting division is positioned to provide quality service to our clients and resources are allocated to meet business objectives. 
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and ensure the team’s professional development. 
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture. 
  • Financial Management: 
  • Develop and manage the division’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. 
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze key performance indicators, and make data-driven decisions to ensure attainment of budgeted targets. 
  • Reporting and Communication: 
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the executive team, fostering open communication channels within the division and across the organization. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications:
  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and values of VEIC. 
  • Master’s degree in business administration or other relevant degree and a minimum of ten years of management experience, including executive leadership, staff supervision, contract management and negotiation, budget management, communications, and the ability to develop and attain goals or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired.  
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the management and supervision of senior managers focused on operations with responsibility of managing an annual budget of at least $10 million.  
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and clean energy solutions.  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of large, complex projects – including interacting with clients, maintaining budgets, holding staff accountable to goals, and overseeing all aspects of project work. 
  • Excellent strategy, analysis, planning, and decision-making experience. 
  • Proven leadership skills in collaborative and team environments.  
  • Exceptional communication skills for public and internal audiences including writing, speaking, and presentation skills. 
  • Deep and thorough understanding of change management, quality management, continuous improvement, and demonstrated ability to develop and implement systems to improve performance. 
  • Strong skills in interpersonal relations, assessing individual strengths and weakness, political savvy, and managerial courage. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
