The Opportunity

SimplePractice is expanding into Mexico City!

As we are building out our new office in CDMX, we are looking for the ideal candidate to be a key engineering leader for our Product Development team as well as be the Site Lead for this new office.

We are just starting out today with a handful of engineering hires in Insurgentes, but have ambitious plans to grow out a large engineering footprint (50+), and will add in other functions such as Customer Success, Marketing and Corporate (People & Culture, Finance and Legal)  over the coming year. Mexico City will become our largest single office worldwide.

Our ‘One SimplePractice’ approach means that our engineers in Mexico City will be on squads that include team members from across the world - we do not isolate teams based on location. Similarly, engineering leaders will have team members from any of our locations in the US, Mexico and Eastern Europe. This is important for our shared cultures, practices and values.

The Role

This position reports directly to the CTO. The ideal candidate will provide leadership in two distinct areas. First and foremost, you will be a Director of Engineering responsible for one of the three pillars of our product experience - the relationship between the clinician and their clients. You will lead multiple squads of engineers and work closely with Product and Design peers to advance and innovate in this core area.

For the secondary responsibility, you will be our Site Lead in Mexico City. We believe it is important to have a senior leader in the office to provide for the care and well being of the local employees, to build the SimplePractice employment brand in Mexico, and to strategically plan for the growth of the office in CDMX.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple teams of feature development engineers located in Europe, the US and Mexico City
• Be a key partner with Product and Design leadership to innovate, plan and execute on the product roadmap
• Be an active participant in engineering leadership at SimplePractice - helping us work across boundaries and continue to innovate in culture, process and technology stack
• Provide technical and architectural guidance to the team to build a scalable and maintainable codebase
• Reinforce the culture of strong technical ownership, resulting in highly reliable products and services at scale
• Provide site leadership in Mexico City
• Be a role model and champion for SimplePractice culture and values within the office. Serve as a mentor to local leaders across other functions.
• Build brand awareness for SimplePractice as an employer of choice across Mexico
• Partner with the recruiting and people teams to meet recruiting goals and help build our first university recruiting program
• Partner with functional leaders to plan and execute on a long-term strategy for Mexico City.
• Lead day-to-day operations and support all employees in the office regardless of department or function
• Be present in this office and partner with the People team to strategically plan our office strategy in Mexico City.

Desired Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of engineering experience in a medium or larger software company including 8+ years managing high performance teams including manager of manager experience
• Extensive experience with large scale SaaS architectures, preferably built on Ruby on Rails and AWS
• Previous experience working with US based technology companies
• Experience leading, influencing in a matrixed environment and working with globally distributed teams
• Proven capability of delivering complex software with quality and velocity

Monthly Compensation Range

MXN $165,000 - $210,000 per month 

Base salary is one component of total compensation. 

The above represents the expected base compensation range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider many factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
